Calzaghe: Brits will spank the Yanks in November

Joe Calzaghe says the month of November will be huge for British boxing. On November 8, Calzaghe will face Roy Jones Jr. in New York; on November 15 David Haye will face Monte Barrett in London, and on November 22 Ricky Hatton will take on Paulie Malignaggi in Las Vegas.
Calzaghe says that all three fights will be battles, but he is confident that after everthing is said and done - the three of them will "spank the yanks."

"It's three great fights and I'm convinced that the final score will be Britain 3 USA 0," Calzaghe told The Sunday Mirror. "All of us have obstacles to overcome to win, but I know we can do it. Jones is a true modern great - the first fighter in over 100 years to win middleweight, light-heavyweight and heavyweight titles. David has a lot to live up to and there are still questions about his chin. Ricky has conquered Las Vegas before and he must prove to the Americans he has recovered from the Floyd Mayweather loss last year.

Not a Hatton fan, but I think he's a safe bet. If Jones lays on the ropes, I can't see that being competitive. If Haye finds the mark early Barrett's done, he isn't exactly known for his chin.

I wanna root for my statesmen here, but all three are pretty heavy underdogs.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

I tend to agree with joe... EXCEPT that Malignaggi will beat Hatton. (I say that reluctantly as I hate Paulie and love Hatton) Malignaggi by split.

The operative word here Joe is was, not is.

The funny thing is that Calzaghe talks as if he actually believes that Jones still is really great, and that such a victory will make him even greater. No acknowledgement at all that Jones might be past it a bit. "Speak it, and it shall be true"

I agree with Joe that they will sweep all three bouts, but you have to realize that they will be heavy favorites in each fight

Paulette may act like a Queen but He's got some skill.I think he will bruise up Hatton, make him look bad at times but Ricky slow's him over the rounds but take a Dec.12
Calzaghe beats Jones, possibly by Stoppage more so on attrition than power.I think Haye/Barret is not a gimme for Haye.I can see each getting tagged early.

You may be correct and I can't say it's a bad prediction but I'll stick with mine.

Not official odds or anything, but I'd say all 3 Brits are favored. I'd say the chances of Calzaghe and Hatton each have a .70 chance of winning and haye a .90 chance of winning. Not to be a dork or anything, but multiplying these odds together gives you a .441 chance that all 3 will win. In other words there is a better than %50 chance one of these guys will lose even if all 3 are this heavy of favorites

No, my friend I'd have to agree...

Haye can crack and 1 fluch shot can stagger Barret.... FACT.

I don't(sadly... I say this with a heavy heart) don't expect a shit load of Jones though I will be rooting for hi) a rejuvinated jones (a la Hopkins) against Calzghe... I see it as a UD or a disputed SD...

But gotta disagree with ya here!!!!

    I see Paulie(who I hate) beating Hatton(who I love)... Just how I see it

Funny thing is if you read Calzaghes book written after the Lacy fight, he says why would I fight RJJ, he's past it and is not a name I want now.
Clearly its about the mney, just say that Joe

    And i agree Calzaghe SD
    Haye KO 5
    Hatton UD

Calzaghe is an idiot. Of course the British are gonna beat the Yanks cos they are favourite to do so.
This is the equivalent of PBF saying that the Americans are gonna flog the british on a weekend he is fighting Hatton, Pavlik fought Lockett again, and, Bhop fought Froch.

    Idiot i tells ya.

Nicely put . Calzaghe is talking Jones up so if he beats him it will look good. But as his comments in the past show , he knows as much as we do that Jones is a shadow of his former self. So i for one am keeping my fingers crossed Jones shuts Calzaghe's mouth once and for all.
As for Hatton he is in for a rough ride , which is 50/50% .
Haye may not have it all his own way either.
