The Pride of the Philippines
Manny Pacquiao is currently the WBC Lightweight Champion. The 29-year-old boxer from the Philippines was the former WBC Super Featherweight Champion, IBF Super Bantamweight Champion and WBC Flyweight Champion.
Pacquiao is the first Filipino and Asian boxer to win four world titles in different weight divisions. He was named the “Ring Magazine” pound-for-pound top boxer in the world in June 2008. But the fortunes of this erstwhile unknown fighter may change as most boxing insiders predict he’ll upend the “Golden Boy” of boxing, Oscar de la Hoya, in what has been billed as “The Battle of Boxing’s Best” in Las Vegas, December 6.
E:60 correspondent Jeremy Schaap sits down with Pacquiao to address his career, and growing up from the poor streets to become an icon in his nation.
