With Alexander Povetkin hurting his foot who should Wlad fight on December 13th?
With Alexander Povetkin hurting his foot who should Wlad fight on December 13th?
Here's the list:
Alexander Dimitrenko 28 (18 KO's)-0-0 - A Fritz Sdunek trained fighter (Wlad's former trainer and Vitali's current trainer), he's a southpaw, athletic and doesn't have much punching power or a good chin. His biggest win was a 12th round TKO of previously unstopped Timmo Hoffman. He's currently scheduled to fight Luan Krasniqi.
Cris Arreola 25 (22 KO's)-0-0 - A slow plodding fighter with big thudding power, slow hands, and from what we have seen a VERY solid chin. His biggest win was a 2nd round DQ of Chazz Witherspoon. He is scheduled to fight Travis Walker.
Oleg Maskaev 35 (26 KO's)-6 - A game old vet, he's got it in him to just be a punching bag vs Wladimir, he wouldn't even put up that much of a fight. His biggest wins have been over Hasim Rahman
Hasim Rahman 45(36 KO's)-6 - A one punch wonder, he has good power in that right cross but one has to think at this point he's a tad overmatched by the bigger, stronger, younger Wladimir. His biggest win was the KO of Lennox Lewis.
Nicolay Valuev 49(34 KO's)-1 - the biggest guy in all of boxing at 7 feet tall and over 300 pounds. He has good boxing skills but hasn't fought top level competition bar Ruslan Chagaev and really not much is known about Chagaev other than he can beat Valuev.
John Ruiz 43 (29 KO's)-8 - everyone's favorite fighter to hate is not a power puncher, not a boxer, but he wins fights. He hasn't been KO'd since David Tua KO'd him in the first round of their fight. His biggest wins were over the aged Evander Holyfield.
David Haye 21 (20 KO's)-1 - A strong and quick cruiserweight who is untested in the heavyweight division. His biggest win was over Jean Marc Mormeck who he stopped in 7.
Evander Holyfield 42 (27 KO's)-9 - It has been rumored that Evander is looking for another title fight or at least another big payday as he has some issues to deal with. Evander has had big wins over Tyson, Bowe, and Lennox Lewis (if you call that a win), but time seems to have caught up with him. If a fight vs Evander was made it would give Evander the SLIM chance to achieve greatness one more time and also give Wladimir a win over a still durable yet faded hall of famer
there's only one name there that excites me as a matchup - David Haye
I would find a Valuev matchup interesting though I guess to see how he handles him
With regards to Haye and the 'untested at heavyweight angle' - how many fights did Evander have at heavy before taking on Douglas. Anyone ??
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
...I don't know about you but I would LOVE to see Wlad hammer John Ruiz out of boxing! Or be the first to KO Nicolay Valuev!
Haye or Valuev.
Haye would jump at the chance and Valuev.......well he probably can't even jump but I'm sure he would be up for it.
I would rather Haye take his time, but if you're eager to see him KO'd and his career ended then fine by me. I would just rather Wlad fight someone he would get full credit of beating like Valuev.
I would like ot see Haye fight someone like Jameel McCline or Cedric Boswell before he fights Wlad. Big guys who can box but also have some power.
They won't fight Holyfield because how daft would Wlad look if he lost to Holyfield although i would give Holyfield a slight chance because neither Klitschko can fight inside.
Valuev. He's the only established heavyweight with a legit chance of at least being in the fight. He's fought 40 something bums, but that's experience enough and he's got a title Wlad would like to collect.
No one should be rushing Haye in there until he's figured out he can take a punch from HW, Arreola would get cleared out, who the hell is Dimitrenko, Ruiz just lost and Evander Holyfield will be a 36 minute punching bag.
Oops
Wlad would batter Holyfield, and would get no respect for beating an old legend.
Valuev fight would be the best.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Good question really. Hard to say who they might get at this short notice. Ruiz would be a good one, I would also like to see him knocked out for all the horrible performances he's given us.

here's the only three i'd watch (in that order)... although, i don't think haye deserves a shot; he's just an unproven guy with a big name...
wait a minute... black, inexperienced, big name- maybe we should elect him president....
"...went 12 rounds with Ali, and never took a backwards step."
I think he should at least fight someone who's remotely earned it, Rahman doesn't come close to filling that.
Depends' how injured povetkin is, suppose he could wait.
I doubt Haye would take it, he wants it to be a huge event if it does eventually happen, so if he is retired by Wlad he'll have made some doe.
