    Default Winky at Supermiddle...

How would Winky fair against Kessler, Bute, and company? Does that division have too much power for him? He seems to be a particularly skilled boxer with no power...

His next fight is at 164, then plans to cut back to 160... He opened his career at Welterweight and looked a little to chubby and lethargic at 175 against Hopkins.. I personally would like to see him fight Kessler at 168, but I think Winky is better suited at Middle where he can move and have the stamina and deal with the physicality seeing he is a defense 1st fighter who absorbs a lot of punches to the shoulders and forearms

Winkys at the back end of his career now and shouldnt be attempting to fight at 160 if you ask me.

Mid 30s and going down almost a stone in weight for your next fight is not a good move.

Winky should stay at 170+ for his final run in the business and be looking at fighting trinidad, dawson and co

Fair enough. Based on how he looked versus Nard, I figured 168 might be a better fit for him.

I just dont honestly see another world title in him to be honest.

Most of the old 154/160 fighters move up to 175 at the back end of their careers as its much easier to make the weight and fighting eachother earn themselves decent paydays.

Yeah, I think his lack of power would keep him from being successful at this weight. Maybe not. That's why they fight 'em.

But I agree, no world titles to be sure.

I'll admit I'm biased- I just don't like the guy. If he doesn't have a problem making weight I think he should stay at MW also; his lack of power would get him in trouble in the higher weights (opinion).

I think Winky looked a little bit chubby at 170 against Hopkins but he still put up a good fight and argueably won.

Considering Hopkins latest performance at 170 Wright should be given more credit from his fight with Hopkins.

I think he would pose alot of problems for fighters at 168 and i think he could probably beat them all.

Are you friggin serious The guys you mentioned with the exception of Tito and Wright all have been at 175 for numerous years with the exception of Bhop who admitted being a lightheavy all along who cut to mke 160..

So your saying he should stay a chubby fighter who will lose stamina down the stretch only cause he is getting old That is as flawed a logic I have ever heard

You know Winky started at Welterweight right and so did Tito.. They both looked terribly out of shape at 170 but yea all fighters at championship level do that

Fighters i cant see winky beating: (excluding calzaghe and hopkins as he wont get a chance to fight them)

    1. Kessler
    2. dawson
    3. pavlik

I think maybe a winky vs abrahams might be an ok fight, or a winky vs miranda would be exciting to watch.

Winky just doesnt have the power and is more negative in my opinion. He just doesnt press hard enough to win fights at the higher weight categories, unwilling to take risks...he is a 'safe fighter' at these weights, a steady workhorse but not someone who is gonna bang out a light heavy or super middle for their world title...just my opinion.

He should go down to middleweight...try his luck against pavlik or abrahams.

    3 fights in 3 yrs...

I think Winky just hurts himself by doing this, time stops for no one and he's fallen victim to it.

About him at SMW, I think he could get in there and beat some of the top names...
