    Default Clottey Vs Any Welterweights??/

I Haven't Read Anything About Clottey And I Believe He's A Threat Why Is He Active I'd Love To See Him Against Berto, Cotto,or Mosley He's No Walk In The Park.

Clottey will be tough for anyone. He is tough and strong and is a pressure fighter.

Im sure a lot of people will disaree with me, but I think Clottey is the most complete fighter in the welterweight division. Id favor him over Cotto and Mosley, though they would be close fights. Most overlooked fighter in boxing imo.

How is he more complete than Cotto, Mosley, Mayweather?

I think he's overrated if anything, he doesn't have a lot of power, he isn't super fast, he squares up a lot. I like that he keeps his hands up, and that he is accurate, but I think he would be in against too much fire power agianst Cotto, MOsley, and even Berto.

He didn't even mention Mayweather, remember the guy who's retired??

I think Clottey could be dangerous to all those guys but he's in the position of being the high-risk low reward fight in the division & none of these guys seem to bothered about unifying the belts. I don't think Clottey is amazing at any one particular thing, but he is very good at everything IMO, a well-rounded fighter. Can't see Mosley or Cotto giving him time of day, & I think Berto's handlers will recognize him as too dangerous a risk. If Margarito fights in Mexico, it might be worth Clottey going there to get revenge & possibly raise his profile.

Honestly the way it is in boxing today you have to sell yourself and make noise and call people out. It can be done with respect and class but he hasn't been putting out that extra efford to get the publics attention and he's holding a belt.

Like I said, its not the popular opinion, but time will tell...Mayweather is not worth mention as hes retired and not relevent in the division anymore. I think Clotty has a better defence than Mosley. Hes not as fast but hes solid in every departement. He has a better chin than Cotto and just as much dtermination. Im not saying hes better than him or Mosley. Just more consistant and complete all around. Hes obviously not as big a name, but he is as big a talent imo.

I see him as a stereotypical left hook, hands up type guy who happens to have a good chin. He's doesn't appear to be super coordinated. He has a tight guard, but he certainly gets hit more than Mosley which IMO makes him not as good defensively. He's not really fast, he squares up. I think Cotto is harder to hit, he has a great jab and left hook, he goes to the body as well as anyone, and he also has a really good cross, he is excellent on the front or back foot. Both Mosley and Cotto have been as consistent as anybody in the sport.

I am just bringing up Mayweather since people seem to be so enthralled with him fighting Mosley that most people consider him not truly retired.

Mosley relies on his footspeed to get him in and out. He tends to pull straight back a lot and sometimes hes fast enough to get out of the way but I never considered him a very good defensive fighter. Cotto has a better defence but when hes hurt its usually his offence that gets him out of trouble. Hes not a bad defensive fighter, but hes not a wizard. Neither is Clottey but he always has a tight guard and getting through his guard is no easy task. He his open for wide punches around his guard, which is his biggest defensive flaw.

I think hes very solid. His biggest flaw,Imo,is an apparent lack of 'umph'...that little extra inspiration and fire in spots. He is very high risk/low reward.Nice straight puncher, solid defence and sturdy strong.I can see him hanging with anyone in division.

but my point is that Mosley and Cotto still get hit less. Cotto really controlled Judah didn't let him get very much going, while Clottey really couldn't control Judah, and it actually was a relatively close fight.

I agree on Clottey. I think he's overrated. He's made his name off a loss and beating 2 shot fighters (Corrales [RIP] and Judah). Takes more than that

I will go a step further and actually say Clottey is avoided...Not feared mind you because I don't believe in that nonsense once fighters get to the elite level but I mean out right avoided...The guy can punch, he has very good defence...his chin is durable as they come...Plus Clottey has balls...Bad combo for anyone..

Now that of course does not mean I think he is the best fighter at 147 nor do I think he would beat everyone else...Just that when push comes to shove guys will be more then willing to go another route rather then his

But you could aso argue that he got hit less by Margarito, than Cotto did. He faired just as well imo as Cotto did against Judah and theres no doubt in my mind he was on his way to stopping him also. It took Cotto a few rounds to get to Judah too. Clottey also stopped Jose Luis Cruz, who went distance with Mosley in a highly competitive fight. Styles make fights and Clottey has one of the most effective styles in the division..

I love Berto (and Clottey), but I think Josh would disassemble him. Clottey has good speed and power and Andre gets thrown way off when someone taps him on the chin.
