    Default Showtime last night

The two fight's last night were Harry Joe Yorgi vs Ronald Hearns, and Andre Dirrell vs Derek Findley. I must say the Yorgi fight impressed the hell out of me. I knew Yorgi was tough but I didn't think he would take that a good shot. Being from Philadelphia and usually a big draw there he really put himself on the map with that win and I hope he get's a huge payday next.

As for Andre Dirrell I was completely disgusted by his performance. He should have had his paycheck held with investigation. Why is it nowaday's a man who says he just wants to "box" with landing about one punch per thirty seconds and clearly hurting his man numerous times and then backs off and moves around is called boxing. This back in the day would have been called CARRYING an opponent. Most likely not been paid for there night's work. In case you haven't seen this fight Dirrell had his man hurt early in the first round and could have clearly taken his man out but with I believe about forty seconds. He decides to look better for the camera's and hold his man up and continued to do so for another four or five rounds. I am not a praying man but last night I prayed his hurt nemesis landed a lucky bomb and put him out. What a joke.

Agree with you on the Hearns vs. Yorgi fight man.

But what the fuck are you talkin about with the Dirrell fight?

He tried to get that tough short little fucker outta there in the first, and then pot shotted him the rest of the rounds.

    The guy was tough.

Dirrell ended up beating him so bad that his own corner stopped it, so don't see how that was carrying him.

And then he went over and gave respect to the guy, and told him he needs to get more low and not stand straight up.

    Have his pay check witheld?

    What the fucK?

agree with hulk on this one, and even though he lost, i have loads of respect for Ronald Hearns now, he looked a lot like his dad there last night, had good solid skills, and more so showed great heart, only other thing he got from his dad was his weak chin , but give credit to everyone last night

I was doing a little mini rd. by rd. on the Tijuana Thunder thread...

What a fight between Yorgey-Hearns those dudes traded some sick shots.
They traded knockdowns and they both hurt eachother on several occasions.
    Really good scrap.

    Absolutely paycheck held!!!
Dirrell could have easily put him away but was intent on throwing one punch at a time, looking good for the camera's and constantly running from his man. You say he tried to put his man away what about the first round he was tatooing the guy with combinations at the end of the first round and took a step back and stop throwing punches, a few more shot's the guy would have been going down. Then the ensuing rounds what did he do? Stop throwing combinations and decided too look good instead by throwing one punch at a time and posing for the camera. No balls IMO and yes CARRIED his man when he could have took him out in the first round.

Harry Joe Yorgi had a very good night. He looked like a slick Philly boxer. I'm not sure he is an elite junior middleweight, but he would give many fighters a tough outing. This win should earn him another TV date. He should continue stepping up the competition. Maybe a Pawel Wolak in NYC or an Andre Tsurkan type of opponent.

Well the guys racked up 2 solid wins in his last 2 fights.
So he might be onto something.

I'm not so quick to jump on the yorey bandwagon. Since i've seen hearns i've always thought as long as he continues to keep his hands low he won't make it at the next level. He hit's softer than he thinks and isn't as fast as he thinks either. The guy gets popped in the face and still refuses to put up his hands, good win but hearns has it coming. Direll however was in with a guy he shouldn't have been. It was just sparring for direll what he really needs more than anything else is the fight stevens again. Till he fights this guy again i just don't know...it's pretty nice how easy he switches from left to right hard to tell what hand he really prefers he equally capable of being good with both when he wants to.

agree with you about Hearns keeping his hands low, but in his defense he showed a hell of a lot of heart, even though he lost i wouldn't write him off just yet, he's no Buddy jr, i'd say if he works on his defense a bit, he can bounces back and still be a player in the division
