Default Nigel Benn vs. today's 168 lbers

Was watching Benn vs. Eubank II the other night, can't see how anyone could think Eubank won that one really, but anyway got thinking what Benn would do against today's 168 lb class.

I think he could beat anyone out there right now with Calzaghe being retired.

Kessler, Bute, and Andrade would give him the hardest fights I think.

He'd KO Miranda, Bika, and possibly Ward and Dirrell if he could catch em.

    What do you guys think?

Have to agree on the Eubanks rematch...'draw' my azz .Can you picture a Andrade/Benn fight, brutal.Andrade has a solid beard but frontal mostly,Benns sharp hooks & experience could catch up to him.Bute is slippery as shite, actually good hands but I think Benn tracks him down for a earlier version of his 12th round with Andrade.Ward showed lots of maturity with Miranda but is still a bit green at the highest levels.

Kessler might just turn into a war, good chance.Have only seen him about 4 times but is seems strong, straight puncher. He didn't have much of a plan b for Calzaghes lawn mower style.Good one.

Andrade vs. Benn or Bika vs. Benn would be the ideal match ups. They'd be classic "tear ups" as Benn would call em.

Bute is a very good boxer. I'd love to see if Benn could get him. I think he would.

Kessler is the only one I see really beating Benn. Even then I give Benn more than a 50/50 shot of rocking him and gettin the TKO or outworking him.

I haven't seen Kessler since he fought Calzaghe though.

I kind of think Kessler would be wrong for Been. Good footwork, can keep distance, jab and right hand.

He'd eat Miranda's children. Probably KO Bute late. Too good for Bika or Andrade but they wouldn't go anywhere, especially Andrade.

Kessler is the only one I could really see beating Benn.

Andrade would be getting hit harder than ever before, but he could most likely take it.

    That'd be a great fight.

You should watch it again man. Benn won way too many early and middle rounds to lose that fight.

I think he just may have beat all of today's 168.

I think if he allowed Miranda to brawl with him that could have been a very solid (albeit short) fight.

Jermain Taylor can hang with pretty much anyone for 8 rounds or so...after that he tends to wear down.

Andre Ward is very green still, in 3-4 fights (if he continues progressing) I think he'd be able to hang with a guy like Benn

Mikkel Kessler is the best technical fighter and has the hardest punch, I think he could do better outboxing Benn than trying to KO him.

Other guys we can consider besides Froch, Andrade, and Bute are Chad Dawson, Kelly Pavlik, and Arthur Abraham. The guys at 160-168 don't seem to hit as hard as Benn's era of guys like: RJJ, Toney, McClellan, Jackson, etc

Nigel Benn is my boxing idol.I grew up watching his fights and wars on itv as a kid and he sparked my interests in the great noble art game.Benn in his prime on his best night of fighting would beat most of today's present fighters.Benn was raw and really game and a forward fighter with heavy hands.Benn's guard was always open for counters, that was his down fall i think.Thats why he lost to Eubank when their first met.I watched that fight myself a couple of days ago on dvd.I loved Benn,he's my true hero.Soo game and raw!!

I see Kessler beating him after some rough spots, I think he would brutally KO Froch, Bute.

I think Andrade would beat Benn by KO, Nigel hit hard but had a suspect chin, Andrade can take them with the best and from the best plus he has pop in his punches....

If Andrade was not so damn slow he would be a world champion by now

I think Benn vs Kessler would be a great match up.Very hard to score that one.A boxer(Kessler)vs the slugger(Benn).Tight fight to call.Where as Benn vs Calzaghe, now that would go to Calzaghe i think.Calzaghe's chin and great boxing skills as well as his power(when he was in his prime)would have been a little too much for Benn i think.Im being honest here as Nigel Benn inspired me into the sport of boxing as a kid.
