    nice find for the site, welcome Al

    boxing's on a bit of an upswing IMO, great fights are being made and it at least seems to me that the sport has gotten more mainstream attention since the Hatton-Pacquaio fight.

    As far as Angulo goes I think he won't be able to cut it at the really elite level but he'll probably win a title and he'll be fine against Cintron.

    I have enjoyed Al Bernstein's coverage on boxing for years. I look forward to listening to his analysis of fights just as much as the fights itself on Showtime. Living in a world with a lot of distortion from the facts, Al Bernstein keeps it simple and is very objective. He is extremely well informed and gives a perspective that not only die-hard fight fans can appreciate, but even a casual sports fan can value!

    For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

    Fantastic to have you here Al.

    I agree with you regarding the excitement factor around the current crop of fighters. Not often through history have been seen numerous potential future hall of famers plying their trade in the same division at the same time. We had the Heavyweights of the early seventies and my favourite era of Hagler Hearns Leonard and Duran. But looking at the current Welterweight division we have Shane Mosley, Manny Pacquiao (if he decides to fight at 147) the return of Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto and Paul Williams should he decide to drop back down. There are some mouthwatering matchups in there - let's just hope they get made!!

    Whoa! this is great news.

    Al correct me if I'm wrong or I have the story mixed up. But you landed on ESPN by one of those "Oppourtunity meets prepartion" moments right?

    I remember reading about how the Hit Man Hearns was to be the commentator for ESPN but was a no show and you filled in. Then for the next show instead of waiting to see if the Hit Man would show they just hired you up front?

    Which is when you called the fight between Lee vs. LoCicero...
    Is this correct?

    If so, that's a great story second week on the job and you call that fight...

    As for your colum, I agree with most of it minus the Angulo bit cause I don't think he will be a superstar. I could just be going with the flow of his last 2 performances but he looks very beatable to me. I sat ringside for his fight vs. Tsurkan and I was not impressed at all looked tired early on was a bit slapish with his punches and just looked flat for me.

    I think on your list I would add;
    Arce vs. Darchinyan
