The class I'm currently taking do the same routine for about the first 45 minutes. The last 45 minutes are focused on technique.

(I'm going to start from the last time I was in the gym)

    7/1/2009
Started off with a one mile run. Hands up, chin down and on the balls of your feet. 12 laps going around the gym in one direction and 12 laps in the opposite direction.

After the run, a five minute shake down. Just bouncing on your toes and letting your arms move around naturally to loosen them up.

After shakedowns, grabbed a pair of 2lb dumbbells for aerobic exercises. While running in place on the balls of your feet, you throw uppercuts, straight punches, punches towards the ceiling and side punches. A classmate leads the exercise and tells you when to switch. This goes on for about 5 minutes.

Next, straight punch shuffles. With every punch you shuffle your feet. This is done for 5 mintues.

Cross step shuffles are next. Basically, jumping jacks with your feet crossing on every jump. However long "My Sharona" last is how long we do it for. Once completed, light jog for two laps then stretching. Once stretching is completed, 2 minute water break and come back with your gloves.

This varies every night. Since there was only five of us on this night the trainer (not a classmate, an actual trainer) decided to have an open gym for 6 rounds. He only required that two of the rounds consisted of jumping rope and shadowboxing. You can do anything else for the other rounds.

For the first round I did the jump rope. Which was harder then I thought haha. I could jump rope but not like the other guy that was switching feet and crossing his arms and all that. I was doing my 5th grader double hop before jumping over the rope.

For the second round, I worked the heavy bag. I wanted to focus on my 1-2 while moving to the opposite side and hitting the bag with a jab on the swing back. At the end of the round I threw in a jab-cross-hook and the trainer told me to work the mitts with him. He said that my hook was coming in too short. It pretty much looked like after my 1-2 I threw an elbow instead of a fist. So I worked the mitts with him for the beginning of the third round and after I got use to throwing the hook a little wider I finished the round with shadowboxing to make sure I got it down.

For the fourth round I went back to the heavy bag working on my double jab and double straight.

For the fifth round I decided to learn the speed bag. I asked the trainer first on how I should get started. He explained that I have to build up a rhythm and hit the bag on every 4th count. Hit..2..3..4...Hit...2..3..4...and once I got it with one hand switch up to the other for another 4 hits. I was able to get to go back and forth between left and right, not fast but consistently. I felt proud haha.

After that, finished up with another 2 laps.
