Default R.I.P Tony "Punching Postman" Thornton

Just received this sad news from a reliable source.

Tony Thornton passed away last night. He was in a motorcycle accident a few weeks ago and a bus slammed him into a concrete wall. He had his helmet on but it was not buckled. He was taken to Cooper Hospital in NJ and announcer Ed Derian reported that he passed away last night.

He was 37-7-1 and always fought the very best competition.

I saw him fight several times in Atlantic City (he was from nearby Glassboro,NJ.

May God watch over his soul.

My sincerest condolences to his fans, friends and family. I have recently lost my big brother in St.Pete Fla, trainer and cutman for Winky Wright and Jeff Lacey, Michael Birmingham. My prayers always, Mike's baby sis

Don't know anything about him, but googled him & can say he was in the ring with some of the best fighters around the Middleweight division in the last 20 years.

    RIP Tony Thornton

    RIP Tony Thornton

I talked to John Scully about him and ICE said he wa one of the toughest and most consistent guys he ever met. Tony was also a very decent and well spoken guy.
