Default Ok, what the heck is going on with Pacquiao?

First he wasn't getting in touch with Roach about where to train while Cotto had already started his camp.

Now I'm hearing that he's nowhere near where he should be & Arum is mad. Koncz wants Manny to dump Roach and reports are saying that Manny is getting tagged pretty good by sparring partners.

What are the facts in this situation?

i just read the newspapers right now here at phil; 10-7-9 our time, that it's finally going smooth right now for pac and both arum and koncz felt satisfied with the results. as a matter of fact koncz stated that "it was a good performance for manny and both his sparring partners ate leather from pac's powerful and fast combinations. they can't seem to see it."
the reports said after pac was struggling with both men, the tables had just been turned and pac is back to his true form again! i even saw him recently on the t.v after training, man his leg muscles looks like it's really ripped and bulky. his torso, damn! he looks a bit like valero coz i can swear he looks bulkier than ever man. he doe'snt look like he's small or anything. first time i saw him look like that i swear.
and right now as i read on the same newspaper, that jlc is coming to our country. but first roach said he won't allow jlc to spar with manny if jlc is'nt in top shape. he has to see if he's fit first. (knowing jlc has weight issues in the past.) if he is'nt, he'll pack his bags and go back to mexico.
so if you're a pacfan like me, he seems to be in pretty good shape and in top form again.

Thanks friend. I'm a big Pacquiao fan, but it saddens me to see his focus outside of the ring isn't as great as his focus inside.

I know he is more than a star in his homeland and I applaud his triumphant rise from poverty, but sometimes I feel that his need to please everyone before taking care of what is important for his career (and ultimately his family as their health depends on his performace in the ring) will be his downfall.

I'm pleased to hear he finally cleared some of the cobwebs though because a guy the size & with the strength like Cotto should not be taken lightly. I wish Pacquiao the best & will be rooting for him come fight night.

Hopefully he's getting himself up to being a true Welter... Not a Welter who weighs in at 143 and fights at 147.. A welter that weighs in at 146 1/2 AFTER dropping a few pounds, and weighs 152 fight night.. If he keeps his speed at that weight, he'll destroy just about anyone at 147.. His physique is that which will never be anything less than ripped, and with the ticket to really put on some size now if he's taking on true Welterweights, then he's going to be more impressive with every fight...

But he's gotta keep everything else up to scratch as there are guys at 147 who'll punish him if he lets his skills slip...

yep. his focus drifted to the flood victims in my country last week. went down from his training camp (it's in the north.) to donate $478,000 for those who got flooded. manila and the nearby cities really became a desolate place, homeless people everywhere, mud everywhere. but even in that situation , we filipinos are known to be resilient and to look at the bright side and try to see hope amidst this turmoil. i hope just by helping he felt good on himself.
and as for the distractions, pac is tightly secured by a bunch of bodyguards to do crowd control and see to it that nobody, escept authorized persons, can get to the gym to see manny. only time the crowd sees manny is when he exercises outside and does some road work. that really annoys me a little since they've been told by the mayor
not to disturb manny but what can you do? huggers are huggers.
cotto is definitely not to be taken lightly, everyone knows that in the pac team and so is a lot of boxing fans here. it also came straight from pac's mouth everytime he's asked about his training and he recognizes cotto's power and boxing skills.
either way i know it's going to be a great fight come nov.14. hope you will enjoy the fight my friend, whatever the outcame may be!

if you just saw those legs man.(the muscles close to the ankles.) it's totally ripped! this is where power comes from in boxing right? man they might be adding more power to manny's punches i guess.

I gotta bad feeling about this fight. Watch Pacquiao's early fights and you'll be suprised by how cocky he can be. Koncz and the other "advisors" are doing what "advisors" have always done best: uncover and exploit a fighter's hubris. Mike was too emotional, Rocky was too generous and now I believe Manny is going to underestimate Cotto. This is going to be one tough fight.

I was looking through Boxrec yesterday and spotted that Pac is being lined up to fight early next year think they need to beat Cotto first

Pac is a pro, and comes in 100000% in shape for every fight, couple that with having one of the best trainers in the biz makes for a far fetched notion Pac all of a sudden is fuking about... This is going to be the hardest test of his career so I wouldnt buy into all the negative rumors...

As far as sparring and looking lackluster, if he is just getting back in the ring, he's going to be a bit rusty naturally. Give it a week or too and the rumor mill will start churning headlines like.... PAC knocks down Arthur Abraham in sparring, Pac took Vitali to school etc... Same ol fodder that goes along with Pac fights these days.

I expect nothing less than the sharpest and best conditioned Pacquiao and Cotto next month

Personally, I have no insider and absolutely no reliable sources as to confirm or to infirm these rumors. Win or not that match, I still think that Roach was correct to want to train him as far as possible from distractions and I think that to train in a Land where you sit next to God is no good for the focus.

We've heard this so much for Manny's fights and it never comes to play a factor in the fights. I don't believe he wouldn't train hard for Cotto, this is the biggest challenge of his career, in possibly the biggest spotlight(or second biggest after facing ODLH). Roach says things are fine between them.

This is correct, I've heard these same rumors since he fought Barrera.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Pacquiao has changed a lot since his earlier fights.. He's refined his craft dramatically. He directs his attention so much better both offensively and defensively.. One of Pac's biggest strengths of his last several fights has been his calculation during the fights... You wouldn't use that word to describe his earlier fights..
The same was he is going to have his training and preperation calculated.. I doubt Pac will understimate a fight for the rest of his career... He's a workman and boxing is his love....
The cockyness he once had is more directed now into concentration, although he still loves the dramatic moments in fights as much as anyone..

A NEWS REPORT COMING FROM TAKAMURA HOMELAND NEWS!!!!!

The storm that wrecked havoc on my home land had weakened this past few days but it has hit it's third landfall on my country, and remaining static on the northern part of luzon. The storm which was once a super typhoon has now become a tropical depression, which is the weakened state of any storms. However it remained it's influence in the northern part for more than a week now. Rain falls seems not to end there, resulting to massive flooding of many provinces as well as soil erosions.

And where does pac trains his fight? In Baguio, which is situated in the northern part of luzon. The 2 roads leading to it, kenon road and marcos high way is inaccesible, due to the water level that had reached 4feet!!

Today 100 people have died because of a deadly landslide, burying them. And yesterday,a bridge had collapse because of soil erosion, resulting to 20 vehicles damged, including 3 which fell off the bridge. Good thing the drivers were escorted away to safety and no one was reported injured.

The famous strawberryfields of baguio now had turned in to a vast water shed. Half of the city turning in to an image of the sea. This is where pac trains now, where it seems like the ghouly arm of disaster is knocking at his doors.

The storm however is slowly moving away now in a very slow rate. However there is still strong winds and heavy rainfall that's accompanying it.

Amidst the storm outside i hope jlc gets on his way to pac's training camp just in time and in is well fit. And i hope pac is not distracted much.

Mad takamura reporting to you live from my homeland...

Yeah, he shouldn't train in the Philippines. The typhoon is following him. LOL.

I'm a little worried with his training now. Has Pacquaio already returned to Baguio? Last time I saw him in the news was when he was giving some relief goods somewhere in Metro Manila.

What has happened to the Philippines? It has been almost three weeks already and it seems almost all parts of Luzon has been flooded (according to the news I see everyday).
