Hopkins setting his sights on the HW crown ?!

Seems like BHops is looking for the HW title now ! Obviously he would look toward Haye. I have found hist last few outing to be extremely average and don't think he can handle the power at this weight. We know he starts slow and takes it into the later rounds before opening up but I don't reckon he could dictate the pace the way he would need to with Haye.

oh and in case you wonder I am not a big Haye fan, just reckon he has too much.

I am really curious as to why these Lightheavies like to avoid the cruisers it makes no sense. Why would he not go after Adamek or some other beltholder there? Then step up and take a shot at a real heavyweight champion. And I like how they always go after the little heavies and not after the legitimate champions like Vlad. I really am starting to have more appreciation for Chris Byrd who win or lose fought all the big guys and ducked nobody and was a blown up middleweight. Bernard has his 50th win why not go out and put it all on the line and go after Vlad and let Haye be?

He's not gonna be fighting Haye anytime soon. As a Golden Boy man i'm sure he knows Haye has to fight Ruiz next, which is penned in for March/April, then there's gonna be some crap with Valuev contracted to a rematch.

Hopkins needs a fight for March/April himself, and you can bet he wont want another $200,000 Ornelas job. He makes more than that representing Golden Boy promoting other fights

Maybe he was confusing Adamek's IBF International heavyweight title with a "real" world title.

Cruiserweight is really just a nothing division, from an historical perspective its entirely insignificant.

If Hopkins wins a heavyweight belt he emulates Roy Jones as the only middleweight to win a heavyweight title, if he wins at cruiserweight all he does is pick up another belt.

Really nobody cares about the cruiserweight which is why anybody with talent and ambition moves up, Adamek is at heavyweight now.

I think Bhop should take a valuble lesson from RJJ and retire before he also humiliates himself. As for heavyweight well that is a recipe for disaster. He should do what most boxers fail too, retire with a decent legacy to the sport that was so good to him.
The $millions on the other hand may have something to say about that, as it always does.

Now, while I have serious doubts about the soon-to-be 45 year old Hopkins' chances of beating Haye (purely based on his physical attributes, his skill-set is twice that of Haye's), I'd still pay to see it. If he managed to pull a win against the obviously much bigger, loud-mouthed Haye, it would be the perfect end to an amazing career full of hardship. I say bring it on. The man has fought for everything in his career. Give him a shot at becoming a true legend. Lets see it.

If he managed to pull a win against the obviously much bigger, loud-mouthed Haye, it would be the perfect end to an amazing career full of hardship. I say bring it on. The man has fought for everything in his career. Give him a shot at becoming a true legend. Lets see it.

Iit would take him a year to put on enough quality weight , other than that he can eat pizza fr a few months and be unfit and get tagged even sooner.

Given hayes activity rate though Hopkins would probaly have enough time , would be an interesting ring entrance though, don't know if anyone has come in on a mobility scooter before
