    Default Sorry to be negative

First off hat off to Pacquiao on his great win over Cotto just hope the Mayweather fight happens now.

Right the negatives did 145lbs have an effect of Cotto he didn't look as chunky come fight time as he normaly does and his punch resistance sempt very low and am i the only one who thinks it is a little strange that Manny at only 5ft 6inch has come from winning his first world title weighing 112lbs up to weighing 144lbs last night and is still as ripped as ever. I know your all going to shoot me down its just an observation thats all he isn't one bit fleshy when you look at other fighters similar height coming from lower weights seem to get a little fleshy or have a good covering on there muscles but Pac is ripped to the bone. I know your all going to say he trains like a demon and so on but shouldn't this make it harder to put weight on especially when as ripped as he is?? it was only 20 month ago he weighed 129lbs vs Marquez and now weighing a ripped 144lbs i don't know im just saying.

    Right shoot me down

In relation to Cotto being weight drained, I really don't think so, he weighed in only a single pound less than he did against Clottey, and was fighting at 140 until only a couple of years ago.

In relation to Manny being ripped, yes there is no fat on him, but look at the muscle!

HBO in one of the undercard fights showed pictures of Manny's body throughout his career and just how much his physique has filled out, he has stacked on an impressive amount of muscle.

They also said he needs to eat up to 8000 calories per day to maintain that size whilst in training, otherwise he starts to lose muscles mass!

So he's clearly fighting above his natural weight, but thankfully it doesn't seem to be adversly affecting him.

Roy Jones whacked on about 25 lbs to fight Ruiz so it can happen.

He might have problems were he ever to try and move back down though!

Yeah, but it's been suggested that he was using different 'supplements' in the same way. Part of me is suspicious of both having gone up so much weight & not had it affect them, but I'd rather believe the cynic in me is wrong & that it's a natural achievement by men growing into their natural weight.

Also no way was Cotto drained, everyone was saying he looked great at the weight. Pacquiao was just that much better.

In relation to Manny taking something illegal (which i think is what you're trying to suggest ), lol, i will say this. I've been saying it for a while, that sometimes a fighter is just under-nutritioned. Once they get the proper nutritional help, they will adjust to fighting at a heavier weight, and they may even be more effective. I said this may happen to Pacman around 2 years ago, and it most definitely has. He doesn't look unaturally muscular, his frame carries it very will so i think it is fair to say that the nutritional side of his training camp has been upped and improved considerably.

I would say Cotto was certainly not drained, although you can't tell about the inside, he looked great.

The beating aside, in patches, he boxed Pac easy, he just could not keep that pace and deal with the ferocity with which Pac went about his business. I certainly think Pac's power has been really underestimated too man, atleast from my side anyway. I got the fight totally wrong for sure, but, in patches, Cotto landed some flush bombs and Pacquiao just didn't even wince, he just either shrugged or smiled and carried on blastin.... Wow....

Pac was draining himself before but whne he was coming into the ring at 130 he was still waying the same as he does coming into the ring now.

Cotto was not weight drained at all, like someone mentioned Cotto only weighed 1 pound less than he did against Clottey.

The big size difference wasn't there on the night though, I expected Cotto to be clearly bigger but Pacquiao only looked a tad smaller.

Pacquiao is really starting to fill out into a natural welterweight.

I dont think any non Philipinos in here dont have some kind of suspicion, the only thing that makes me not so sure is the fact that Roach is his trainer, surely he wouldnt want to be involved in such a big scandel, if ever it were found out, unless he just doesnt give a fuuck and wants to milk everything he can out of Manny

Saying that about Jones is just confirming peoples suspicions, he was found guilty of using steroids

Red face Re: Sorry to be negative

hey guys i'm a new member here, but have been reading lots of interesting posts and news in this site..

first of all, i would like to give props for Pacman for putting up a good fight, and for Cotto, for being so sport about it and humble.. it was a touchy moment when he hugged Pac..

anyway, as for Pac physique, and the issue about 'roids is quite off-balance.. Manny is an athletic person.. he plays basketball, he swims, shoot darts.. he's not just a boxer, but a person who is active in sports. so saying he's ripped off becoz of possible "drug enhancers" is doubtful.

    good day everyone!

The excuse aftermath is why catchweights are retarded. Cotto got his ass beat bottom line. There is now a 144 pound welterweight champ and the fighters agreed to all this silly-ness,so it is what it is. Much props to manny his people have earned the right to gloat. I still say floyd beats either of these guys easy and everyone hopes are being set up to be crushed but PAC has definatly earned his shot

If Cotto was weight drained who does he have to blame?? Nobody but himself. If he couldn't make 145lb he shouldn't have taken the fight. Simple as that. He was 146lb for Clottey so it's a non issue.

Now has Manny every tested positive for anything illegal? No. He's fought probably 15 to 20 fights in Vegas who has the best drug testing in the sport. Every been caught?? Nope so again it's a non-issue.

Why can't we just apreciate this great fighter for who he is?? One of the best fighters ever!!!
