Hi everyone,
I have been training for just over a year now and love it! I did Thai boxing years ago so had some experience for when I started in pure boxing.
Back in late October, I was sparring when my opponent hit me with a stiff jab. I had turned to my left and his glove hit me square on the right side of my nose.
He straight away stopped and said, "Simon, your nose has moved". Took a look in the mirror and yep, it had shifted slightly and a dent had appeared.
It hurt pretty bad but there was nearly no blood. Just a few drops when I bent over to put something in my bag.
Now, the trainer did not fill me confidence as he wasn't able to give me a definitive answer as to what I should do. I went home and after a couple of hours, the pain was getting worse and worse, so I went to hospital.
They took a look inside and said there was no blood clots or any blockages. They diagnosed it as a broken nose and said they would pass on my details to a specialist to take a look. That never happened.
For about 2 weeks after, anytime I touched my nose would result in lots of pain. About a month later, this had subsided, so I tried sparring again. Got hit with some pretty weak jabs and the pain came back.
Even now, when I get hit, there is a slight bit of pain. For quite a while, if I tapped the bridge of my nose I could hear something crunchy.
My question is, should I have this looked into? Or, is this fairly common and nothing to worry about? I'm just a bit concerned as it's gone on for several months now.
Thanks for reading. That was a pretty long post. Any advice is much appreciated.
