This doesn't surprise me at all. In fact I expect this when Mayweather makes any of his opponents look easy. No matter how good the opponent was before fighting Floyd. Floyd has too many people rooting against him to get due credit after the fight. Pacquiao is starting to get the same level treatment.

Burt's shtick, the hat the cigar the old school attitude is why people like him. He's ok, but hell anyone that throws their opinion out there every day is going to polarize people (and also contradict themselves from time to time).

"When the legend becomes fact print the legend"....simple as that, it's no different than regular history. I mean now'a'days people like to think the first thing Abraham Lincoln wanted to do when he became President was free the slaves and that's 100% wrong, but it's become the "truth" by people repeating it enough and not asking questions or looking at what actually happened.

Bert Sugar kind of transcends being a boxing writer, he's not a serious analyst IMO, I've never thought that, more just a boxing personality, a cartoon character. He doesn't know much about current boxing. He's an antiquarian, older fighters are better whether they are or not. But he's likeable enough if you don't take him too seriously.

He reminds me a lot of Russel Brand - Brand's stupid hair and 'outrageous' clothes are more talented than brand is and Sugar's hat/cigar are more talented than he is.
Like Ouma says he's more of a caricature for people who like to indulge in that sort of thing...
