Default More Ring magazine Nonito Donaire madness

I think the Ring magazine has lost ALL of its credibility over this mess now.

Shane Mosely loses so Nonito Donaire has indeed climbed yet another fucking place is now NUMBER 4 IN THE WORLD P4P!!!

    Utter lunacy imo.

But wait the story is even more absurd than that.

I mean number 4 in the world p4p you'd expect him to be the Ring champ in his weight class right? Right? WRONG!

According to the Ring he is rated number 4 p4p and get this, NUMBER 7! in his own weight class

I don't know what these guys have been smoking but it's got to stop.

They obviously don't place as much in accomplishments as you. I don't know, I can't really defend it but your views suck and the more I read your reply in the other thread the more and more I get frustrated and I've been spreading rep to neg rep you like the old times. It was a terrible post that just proves you don't read other's posts word for word.

it's possible pacquiao and donaire will be p4p #1 and #2 at the end of the year granting...

    - if pac beat floyd

    - if donaire beat darchinyan (in august) and beat montiel (sometime november/december)

pound for pound is hypothetical: if everyone was the same size who would win.

Divisional rankings are based solely on accomplishments within that particular division. So if Mayweather fought a journeymen at middleweight, he could still be Pound for Pound #1, but there would be no justification for making him the #1 middleweight contender.

That would be a jump of two weight classes, Donaire hasn't jumped two weight classes.

He's rated 7 in the same division that Vic Darchinyan is rated number 1 in. Beating Vic is the only reason Donaire is even heard of and the sole reason for his p4p status at 4, yet he's 6 places below him in the divisional rankings? makes zero sense to me.

It's really weird, he beat Vic in 2007 and since then has fought nobody of note at all.

Meanwhile Isreal Vazquez has fought 3 times, won them all including twice defeating Raphael Marquez. Both Vazquez and Marquez were in the p4p rankings when these fights took place but Vazquez has now been dumped out of the top 20.

Bernard Hopkins has also fought 3 times since 07 including ending the unbeaten run of Kelly Pavlik and beating Roy Jones. Result, he's now been removed from the ring top 10 rankings.

Chris John defeated J M Marquez in 2006 and despite being undefeated since has also long been dropped out of the top 20 p4p.

Yet Nonito Donaire who beat Vic Darchinyan BEFORE Darchinyan was in the Ring top 10 p4p continues to rise and rise off the back of other people's results.

Vic wins a world title in another weight class. Donaire goes UP the rankings, NOT Vic. Hopkins beats Roy Jones, Donaire goes ABOVE him, now Mosley loses to Mayweather and Donaire is the beneficary again.

    It's riduclous and embarrassing.

I hope Darchinyan smashes him next time out to emphasise how absurdly overated he has been.

The rise of Nonito Donaire is the single most bizarre thing to happen in the Ring Rankings. I can't think how he rates above Dawson for example, when you consider that Dawson has beaten Adamek and both Tarver and Glen Johnson twice since Donaire beat Vic. Or Paul Williams who since Vic got KO'd has beaten Antonio Margarito, Carlos Quintana, Winky Wright and Sergio Martinez. I mean for fuck's sake, Mosley lost to an ATG and is somehow now an inferior fighter to Donaire who has only been near an ATG when he went to Pacquiao's birthday. It's fucking ridiculous.

Bilbo, I agree completely. At this rate, he beats Montiel or Darchinyan again and they'll probably crown him as the top dog.

I brought this up with Kevin Iole once over twitter and he agreed too. He said that he once spoke with Donaire regarding the lack of quality opponents and said Donaire sincerely expressed his desire to start facing more notable people.

I'm not sure of the order but Bradley, Dawson, Adamek, and Martinez should be in the top ten above Donaire.

It's questionable that JMM is #3 too. He has somehow improved his lot even after losing every single round against Floyd in his last fight.

Floyde is going to make ANYONE look like they aren't P4P worthy at this point, I still consider JMM a top P4P fighter.
