Alright i didnt no much about the other kid, only that he had a good ko ratio, but all thru that fight i had a big smile on my face due to barreras technical skills, we obviously all no this from his past prime, but im still in love with the man, tripleing up with the jab, great body work, head movement, side to side. to me he showed hes still got something. the only thing lacking is the tenacity of old, but thats understandable, hes still a great fighter tho, im so impressed with the man still. i wish him well on his 140 title venture, wether he gets their or not is another story, but for this moment in time, barrera i salute u.

His physical skills are deteriorating, but he's still an incredibly smart fighter. I don't think this fight told us much about what he has left though. I don't think he has much of a chance against the elite of 140, but it would be great if he proved me wrong.

I agree, he looked sharp and did what he needed to do. He pitched a 10 round shut out and you can't ask for more than that in a comeback fight. Barrera is not going to be getting too many KO's at the higher weights and of course he needs to be a little more cautious as he will be getting hit harder, so I don't really understand the criticism. He isn't quite at his best, but has all the smarts to counter that somewhat. I'm pleased to see him back and thought he fought an effective, intelligent fight.

Simply put, he has great technical skills from one standpoint, but the biggest issue for him, JMM, and Morales are that inspite of their great skill level they are all hittable, and as they move up in weight classes they lack that elite speed, power and energy a Pacquiao has to compensate for the size disparity. I think the JMM-Mayweather fight showed this very evidently, and that was that these guys can't fight bigger skilled boxers like Bradley who are larger and faster and harder to hit. I wish Barrera and JMM the best of luck, but they are in for a rude awakening in one of the three toughest divisions in the game today.

It is one thing to have a tough slugfast with Juan Diaz, it is a completely other thing to have a slugfest with Maidana who may not be as good, but is so much more powerful.

barrera is not planning to fight for title at 140, he will doing it at 135. he's lined up by arum to get a crack on humberto soto or miguel acosta. if successful, that will be barrera's 4th division title and will be the 1st mexican boxer to do so.

He won't be sticking around at 140, he will most likely be heading back down to 135. The only flaw for me was the lack of footwork, but it's hard to tell anything with an opponent who really didn't want to engage with any conviction. It was a case of Barrera simply walking him down. Barrera is no 140 pound fighter, so I look at it as a tune up as he looks towards a harder camp next time out. It was an okay performance, it's not as though Barrera has been knocking anybody out for a good while now anyway. A 10 round decision is decent enough and he was putting a dent into his opponent along the way.

I hope he has a short break and then jumps back into another camp against a better opponent. He can likely go for a belt by next spring.

Watching he and Marquez come up out of the LA Forum and breakout as greats is cherished.Barrera is one if the truest professionals of a generation and sitting through his war with Cook in 94' had me hooked for the longhaul.The sun is setting quickly and for all intents and purposes Barrera is done at the top.At 36,so many hard nosed rounds logged and his give and take willingness he can no longer be the reinvented ring general against the very best but will no doubt get another shot.His name and ring accomplishments will get him in the door but it will be mostly stubborn pride and shadows of skill keeping him in the fight.He deserves to go out in big show and do hope does not fall into the roll of stepping stone name for up and comers,many of whom could not walk a year in his shoes nor be the quality of Champion he was.

I watched this fight on a stream and was pleasantly surprised with how Marco performed. He won every round and never once looked out of his comfort zone. What nobody has mentioned yet is that Barrera was fighting in his 8th weight division having started out at superflyweight in 1989. Over two decades and multiple world titles later, he is fighting as a welterweight and totally outclassed a younger, bigger man. Fair play to him, thats an amazing achievement and he clearly has more left than the evidence of his last few fights.

Missy- Exactly. Going to war and adding further miles to his boxing clock would be madness especially when he can cruise to a decision without even getting marked. Also helps when youre not getting headbutted

Paddy - Agreed. His movement was superb and his double left hook looked classy. It was the way he effortleslly let his combinations go and avoided anything coming back at him which impressed me.

CFH- I suppose it told us that Barrera still hand out schoolings and when you consider his comp at 135 you have to question whos skills can rival his because there cant be many that can.

Miles - I dont think Barrera ever tried to go for the KO. It was a very controlled performance but I agree he wont be putting the big guys away.

Chino- The speed has been missing for a while but he has evolved as a fighter. When Naseems speed went he had nothing to fall back on but Barrera has the experience to counter that a little. He doesnt waste anything now compared to when he fought guys like Mckinney where he was throwing punches anywhere and everywhere. The guy has great skills and just needs to be matched correctly now. I doubt we will ever see his bad temper side again but I hope we do cuz someone will bring it out in him sooner or later.
