Default Fury has a new opponent. Lyle Who is This Guy?

Just read in Boxing News, Tyson Fury will be fighting North Carolina's Donnell Holmes, 32-1-2 (28KO's). Not a bad record but it says here he has not beaten anyone of note and was beaten off Brian Minto last year.

Lyle do you know of this guy from your part of the world?

Donnell Holmes is not bad at all, not at this level, he was robbed when he cut Minto with a punch that stopped the fight, yet was ruled a headbutt. It was in Minto's hometown. The scores are also a bit unfair as it looked even at that point. I suspect that either Hennessey doesn't realize this guy is better than he looks or we have a genuine fight on here (we usually do with ShoBox) and I'll tip my hat to Fury if he wins.

Well he's from Ivanhoe, NC not exactly "my part of the state" but my parents are from near there and James 'Bonecrusher' Smith was from not too far away. His record looks decent, not many big names on there (he made Stacey Goodson quit, so there's one thing to cheer him for), his only loss is a TD vs Brian Minto...he does have a draw vs Earl 'Chocolate Drop' Ladsen which IMO doesn't bode well at all for him. He also won a split decision vs Billy Zumbrun, so just by looking at his record he seems to lack true boxing skill and just relies on his size and strength.

It would be great for Holmes to upset Fury...I'd be happy about it

I've started a new job, so with balancing my time with that and my boxing, I just don't get the time to be on here. How've you been mate?

Love Tyson Fury to be honest - he is the village idiot that you want to do well. He won my heart after blubbing like a little girl when he beat John McDermott. If he worked on his stamina and conditioning (so he is't fucked after four rounds), he could be a very good boxer imo. Oh and needs to stop the Ali shuffles - regardless of how funny they look on tv.

He is a funny fucker this is a line from his interview he did at boxrec:

“I thought I boxed quite well against McDermott but when you’re doing as much shagging as me it’s important that you have strong legs. If I’m honest I was absolutely f****d from the fourth round due to the lack of preparation and I was close to defeat but I knew that McDermott was just as f****d as me. To beat me it’s quite simple, you’ve got to knock me out, because if you don’t I’ll keep going and eventually I’ll knock you out instead which is exactly what happened against McDermott," said Fury

But he never knocked McDermott out, right? So WTF is he he talking about. And what a ninny, he open;y admits to not being able to box for more than 12 minutes and he's a professional athelete

Why is this guy heralded at all, I may never know. All I can see is a tall man. And did he really try and call out Brian Minto?? He's got more problem than stamina if that's the case!
"Floyd needs to inject Xylocaine into his balls to gain the courage to fight Pacquiao."

    - and I quote from some random guy on the internet

...Fury's real trouble is that he follows through with his fights... in Chicken Little's "Secrets to Pro Boxing Success" you'll find out that if you talk shit nonstop and then withdraw from a match vs any live opponent you can win over all of England and never fight anyone but tomato cans because you'll be constantly having tune up fights to ward off ring rust and you'll be working ever so hard to get your fair shake in those big contracts you'll receive....and remember just as Chicken Little says "Pro boxing only has to be as hard as you want it to be"
