Default Klitschko haters: explain something to me please

I've been watching a lot of boxing on youtube over the past few days and there and a lot of the comments really shocked me. There are literally thousands of boxing fans out there that are under the opinion that if the Klits fought in any other time besides today, they would be journeymen at best. A lot seem to think that they would be absolutely no danger to past champions like Tyson, Ali, Holmes, Louis, Marciano, Foreman, Frazier, Dempsey, ect. One gentleman even suggested that a real great prizefighter like ERNIE SHAVERS whould blow both out of the water (LOL).

So are there any posters here who subscribe to these beliefs? If so could you please explain to me how smaller past HWs like Marciano, Dempsey and Louis would go about blowing the Klitschko brothers out of the water? Or how two guys over 6'6'' with jackhammer jabs and straight right hands, great movement and boxing sensibility would be bums back in the 70s? I'm at a loss, I just don't understand it. Maybe someone can educate me.

mate there only fault is that they are too good

i dont buy into this whole they are boring bollocks. This is a dangerous sport and you have to do whatever possible to get the job done.

But i just cant help but think that the likes of peter, chambers, mccline, brewster etc would of actually been big names who wouldnt of been shown up for their inadequacies and it would of made for a far more exciting division
    one dangerous horrible bloke

See that was always my view. I don't see how they are doing anything different than what Holmes and Ali did. But to each his own I spose, hopefully someone on here can explain the other side to me.

When I hear such things I almost instantly suspect that person of being Tyson worshiper. I guess those beliefs can be explained by the fact that Klitschkos are intelligent and calm rather than agressive. I have a theory that they deliberately postpone a KO just for the sake of pleasing the crowds, but the side effect is that it makes them weak in some people's eyes.
Anyway, this is total BS to me. But I never see the point of arguing over this with a Tyson worshiper.

...totally agree. There's no room in sports for guys where if they are going to win or not is really never in question. Hbo and the like complain about how boring their fights are like that has anything to do with the klitchs. Instead of hating and talking crap about them more shit should be dumped on thier competition they are the cause of the boredom. If they were american people would consider them some of the best Hw's ever.

I applaud your effort to understand the haters out there. I think a lot of people hate on these guys for a couple of simple reasons: they are white, they are European, they are well educated, they don't brag or talk shit constantly, when they do talk smack their accents sound more like Borat than Ivan Drago and because of those things they lack street cred and they SEEM like they are not dangerous or intimidating inside or outside the ring.

In short by hating on the Klitschko's people are saying "How can nice middle class white guys not from the US run this division so easily?"

There's just no point comparing Wladimir Klitschko with Rocky Marciano. Rocky Marciano is a Cruiserweight.

Fuck it, Jack Johnson could probably make Light Heavyweight

I can only compare Wladimir's reign as a champion (taking into strict account, his dominance over his competition) to other fighters of previous eras.

    Otherwise, quite frankly, it's nonsense.

I think the Klitschkos would be tough at anytime. They are good skillful fighters, but I think a big x factor is that they are both so big with long reach. They have perfected the art of keeping their opponent on the outside where the opponent with the shorter reach has a hard time landing significant shots.

At the end of the day, I think only a boxer who is tall -and- skillful will be able to beat them, because for the smaller guys, or guys with bad stamina, they just get worn out and taking shots trying to get in close.

What about the HW division today? Personally I don't see how guys like Sam Peter, Brock, Brewster, Chambers, Byrd, Tony Thompson, ect are any worse than guys like Ron Lyle, Shavers, Quarry, Bugner, Chuvalo, Don Cockell, Roland La Starza, Rex Layne, Tex Cobb, ect ect ect. If anything, I think they are superior to a lot of those mentioned secondly.

I don't think the HW division is as shit as people say, the only problem is there are two guys head and shoulders above the rest.

Emanuel Steward: This is another bullshit Ibragimov fight, you need to knock this guy out!
Wladimir Klitscho: Okay Manny, relax! I'm trying!!

Wait... If your gonna mention the 'other' heavyweights of the 70's shouldn't you mention Holmes, Foreman, Fraizer and Holmes aswell?

The 50's is a no brainer. We all know there was shit competition around in those days. But Fuck it, were's Louis, Charles, Machen, Foley and Walcott

Well these are the characters that make up the resumes of these former champs.

My point being that people say Wlad fights mostly bums, but if you look at it the majority of Wlad's opponents were up there with the majority of Ali's opponents. Of course Ali has the bigger names on his resume - Liston, Foreman, Frazier, ect - but the majority of his opponents seem to be inflated due to their performances (or lack thereof) against Ali. Ken Norton had a style that was poisonous to guys like Ali and Holmes but he seemed to get bombed out early against the biggest punchers he faced.

I never mentioned Louis and Walcott because it would be extremely misleading. Both of those guys were old and washed up by the time they fought the Rock in the 50s.

I think that this is somewhat true. I truly believe that the real issue lies with the conditioning and work ethics of a lot of heavyweight fighters. It seems that every time you hear about a possibly big fight in the heavyweight div there is always some excuse or huge letdown. Fighters always are showing up outta shape or armed with excuses so the perception of quality competition just does not exist.I like the Klits because they can only control their action and they are well trained and properly prepared for their fights so its not their fault if the opposition is fat, outta shape, has asthma(Briggs) etc.
I think u brought up a good pt about how americans have a bit of trouble accepting them considering how the dvision was dominated by the USA for years. But the culture has changed, the best athletes in usa aren't becoming boxers now, they play football, basketbal or some other sport but u can't blame the Klits for that
If you think you can......you can, if you think you can't .......you're right!

I don't have the answer to these questions.....

Although Lamon Brewster and Corey sanders do.

And as for vit, his defence is SOOOOOO good it couldn't prevent a fat old slow under trained out of shape lennox lewis from making his face look like a complete mess.

Luckily for the klits there hasn't been anyone half decent or in half decent shape in the division for literally years to expolit this things, or even give them a half decent contest. The klits are only boring because there oppo only show up for a pay day, don't bother getting in shape and don't attempt to put up a fight.

I don't blame the klits for being boring I blame there absolutely dire opposition.

I can't explain Klit haters cuz I'm not one. I just say things as they are.
