I hope this isn't true. He looked in great shape when he returned to Prizefighter earlier this year at cruiserweight until he got injured and had to pull out (and was then replaced by my mate Nick Okoth). Would've liked to have seen him carry on for a bit longer.
From previous behaviour of Herbie Hide, do you really expect him to go quietly if he has retired? That gash he got in prizefighter was bad, didn't look bad enough to keep him out this long though, maybe just taking a bit of a break. I'm pretty sure Hide would want to announce his retirement so he could get a bit more of the limelight and have people saying good things about him before he went.
Hide did himself no justice in prizefighter before than injury
he was picking off 3rd tier cruiserweights at ease
norton will get a pasting if hide turns up and gets his shots off
one dangerous horrible bloke
I thought Herbie looked poor in Prizefighter, reckon he thought it would be a load of one round jobs then started panicking when he couldn't get the guy out. Without the cut I think he would have pulled out.
He also turned down the Enzo Macc fight a couple of years ago. He has no intentions of fighting anyone half-decent again.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
Heck I didn't know he was still fighting. He's gotta be pushing 40 by now and if he isn't planning on anything serious in terms of getting a title shot he should call it a day.
He had been ranked number 1 for the WBC for a long time and was on the verge of a title shot, till he entered the Prize Fighter, surely a WBC fight pays more than the 32k that the winner of Prize fighter gets.
It says in the article that Hide was taking the WBC to court over them dropping him down the rankings after the Prizefighter, so who knows what is going on.
Justifiably so...he didn't lose, and unless the guys below him were getting big wins against contenders then he probably shouldn't have faded away from that no1 spot. And the Norton fight doesn't make any sense at all to me, Norton is massively lucky to still have his belts, and isn't going to make Hide look good at all.
