    Default Inception

Anyone going to see this? I don't go to movies but if I did I would probably chose this. I don't love Christopher Nolan movies as much as some people but he's definitely one of the better things going as far as Hollywood movies and this looks like it could be good.

Anyway, if you see it, report back here and tell all.

Yea I hate movies too but Christopher Nolan is by far my favorite director and Leo is probably over Christian Bale and Viggo Mortenson as my favorite actor and the movie looks fucken awesome. I will go, last time I went was for Iron Man 2 and that was a mistake, I hate movies.

How can you hate movies? A particular genre fair enough but to hate all movies?

I can't wait for Inception, I'll probably go see it tomorrow when it opens here. I am a Nolan fan and DiCaprio too who I think is one of the best actors of this generation. Former crack addict Tom Hardy is in it too, he's probably the best British actor out there along with Paddy Considine..

Going to see a movie at the theatres sucks. Stupid prices for everything which is the least of the problems, then you've got annoying people and I have untreated ADD, I like to get up every once in a while, put stuff on pause.

These days anytime I'm in the theaters, I am usually drunk or something. Which means I'm up a milllion times getting something to drink or going to the bathroom. So I'm paying money to go to the bathroom or something, it's ridiculous. I will be seeing Inception though and I'll sit the whole way through it.

I'm already sick of hearing how great it is from everybody. I dislike it now. Although if I ever see it I could change my mind.

Okay, so I'm assuming ALL you guys have seen it now.

    Great film.

So what's your theory on the ending? I can't believe how many I have read over the net. I really thought it was cut and dry. He is in a double limbo. The Jap guy shot him. The spinning top never did stop spinning.

    What do you guys think

I need to watch it again but I fell for it hook line and sinker. I want a happy ending so he came all the way out, the spinning top started to wobble, thats good enough for me.

Hard to tell if its wobbling or not. But ask yourself this question: How long has it been since he last saw his children? If you think its been say a year or less then you probably get your happy ending, but if you think its been longer than that he is in limbo b/c his children haven't aged.

Well it definately does wobble, no doubt about that. Ive been totally drawn into this and been looking at movie sites that offer explainations on the ending, man some people watch films closely. Some people go with it being a dream, the totem didnt stop, the kids havent aged, wearing the same clothes etc, then others counter with they are wearing slightly different clothes and they have aged, backed up by the actors ages who played them.

After having a read of a few bits and pieces I havent changed my mind. On one particular site they also offer an explaination to the ending of Shutter Island which for me didnt need explaining, he eventually conceeded that he was prisoner 67 and the conspiricy idea was one invented by himself to mask his past, he continued with the conspiricy idea despite knowing it wasnt real, he 'choose to die as a good man' rather than live as a monster.

My Mrs isnt so sure of the Shutter Island ending and see's Inceptions ending differently to me which I guess is the point, we all have a different reality, all see things differently. He doesnt look to see if the totem stops, he accepts the reality that he is presented with as here and now and that is good enough for him. Good enough for me too.

Yeah I've been on that same website. To be honest I totally missed the point on Shutter Island. I just assumed he was nuts. But yeah, he definitely volunteered himself up.

Still think Cobb is in a dream, within a dream, within a dream, within a dream, within a dream.

Basically, it works because he is soooo far deep into his dream state and because the rate of which his brain perceives time increases exponentially... By the time he gets his 'kick' back in the real world (from the mini van dunking in the river) he would have been existing in double limbo for over 50 years.

And if the kick you get manifests in your dream state (water pouring through widows etc...) Then he'll probably die a really old man on a tragic boating accident. Or lung disease.

Haha yep, I hate movies that get 99% through and they are all wrapped up, then in the last 10 seconds throw something stupid in to "make you think",,, but really, just for the sake of making the ending NOT neat.... HATE IT!!!!
Life is to messy to begin with, you watch movies for a nice, happy, neat ending.... at least I do anyway....

So for me, I saw it start to wobble too, everything finished perfect, the end....

Besides, here is what I remember,,, you see him spin it and it falls... So that's "reality"... He then goes down 3 levels, then comes back 3 levels.... Back to reality.....

To make out that the thing continue's spinning at the end is completely in-congruent,,, so I just pretend it was wobbling and about to fall...

You can't just throw a completely in-congruent twist in the last 2 seconds of a movie and expect my whole mind to warp around instantly and leave me puzzled.... I generally just ignore that last 2 seconds and feel content I watched 2 hours of goodness that finished properly....
Not 1 hour 59 minutes and 55 seconds only to have all the viewing pleasure ruined by 5 seconds of "creativity"...

Like movies where there is killers or a killer and you have a group of people,,, and you root for the bastards for the whole 2 hours, and you ride with them through every little bump and close shave, and finally they pass through the toughest part of all, and it's all finishing up nicely, your favourite one survived,, then in the last 10 seconds someone pops out and kills them..... LAMMMMMMMMMEEE! and makes me feel like I shouldn't have bothered watching the whole movie and getting behind the characters if all that was going to happen was they will die....

It's all that talk when you are a kid about how "The good guys always win in cartoons and why can't the bad guy win for a change".... Well all these stupid ending to otherwise great, triumphant movies has proved the bad guy winning sux!!!!
