Still question marks over khans chin????

I say yes there is question marks over his chin he was out on his feet for the last 3 rounds really and there were times had it been over here Khan couldve been stopped by ref Khan showed great heart to get through it. But had Maidana had the skills and energy to get another clean shot through Amir would have been ko'd Amir walked back to his corner for the last 3 rounds like he was drunk and he didn't really spring back in to life till the clapper for last 10 secs of the 12th. Amir ran to survive and Joe Cortez did him some favours putting distance between them on the breaks but as i say Amir did show great heart and the fight was very good from both but Amir still has a very dodgy chin and to be talking Mayweather is crazy and i wouldn't be thinking Alexander vs bradley winner either yet

Well yes and no. It's hardly a question mark, I mean we know his chin ain't great. He showed he could hang with a puncher though and has the heart to survive, but you definitely wouldn't bank on him to make it through every time.

That fight massively enhanced his reputation for toughness though. Most people thought he would win by staying behind his jab and not getting hit. But that's not how it went down. He got tagged over and over and despite looking like about a gazelle in a river with a crocodile towards the end of the fight he managed to somehow hang in there.

It was like watching Frank Bruno's win over Oliver McCall, I was just willing him to stand up.

He has world class skills, I honestly think he outboxes every fighter in the world apart from Floyd, and even Floyd struggles, but he's too defensively vulnerable and would get picked apart by the best boxer punchers in the sport.

I could see him fighting Floyd and amazing everyone by being ahead on the scorecards after 8 rounds or so. I just can't see him standing up until the end.

I love his heart though, the kid gives absolutely everything, and he's British so we us Brits should get 100 percent behind him.

Khan does have skills, his handspeed is great and he puts his combinations together well, but that chin is the big achilles heel. But perhaps it isn't quite as bad as what Prescott made us think. Fair play to him though, he did take a lot of hard flush shots, but I think had Cortez not kept jumping in and had Maidana given himself a little room, then Khan would have been out of there. He saw it through and even cynical old me has to give him credit for hanging in there. He really was all over the place though.

He's always going to be vulnerable. I don't ever see him getting starched like he did against Prescott again, but I do expect him to get KO'd again at some point. He took some good shots from Maidana before he got badly hurt, and then he showed great heart and determination to stay on his feet. Maidana was too sloppy and seemed too tired to be able to land another killer shot when he had him hurt. What would be a concern for me is that he spent best part of the next 2 rounds in survival mode after getting hurt, it didn't show great ability to recover from the big shots.

He's clearly got the ability to hang with any boxer in the world, but he'll always be susceptible to a knockout. His defence is still shaky, he's not the hardest fighter to hit, and I do see him coming unstuck against the Bradley/Alexander winner. He's just fought the hardest puncher at his weight class and came through it with the win, so he deserves huge credit for seeing it through

Mayweather got all shook up by one shot from Mosley, one shot that didn't seem as bad as any one of the shots Khan took.

Yet from that fight Mayweather gained a reputation as having an awesome chin.

Not saying Khan would beat PBF, but for chin comparison.

It's hard to say. Maybe his punch resistance is a little better now he isn't struggling at the weight.

When Khan has been hurt in the past it's pretty much always been with shots which have landed high on the head, and not actually on his chin.

The problem is, everyone knows about his vulnerability, so when he takes a clean shot, the opponent is going to rush him. At the best of times, Khan can look clumsy when going backwards, so when he is doing it when he is tired, after being tagged, he will look all over the place.

The fight proved to me what i already know (and what others disagree with). Marquez at 140 would be a nightmare for Khan at this point in time. Far too accurate.

But then Khan did get hit with ten times the amount of super bombs compared to Floyd. That says more about his skills than his chin.

I think Marquez vs Khan is a great great matchup. I actually think Khan dominates him early, but then struggles late. I'd pick him to beat Marquez at this stage though, I actually think he'd win a lopside decision but with many shaky moments.

I agree with this. I don't think Marquez is as bad above 135 as has been made out and he'd be a tough match for any of the 140 lbers. Khan is very hittable and Marquez would be able to land at will. He might struggle early with Khan's speed and combinations, but he'd soon start to time him and land regularly. I don't think Khan gets stopped in the way he did against Prescott again as he won't make the same mistakes in preparation, but he's always going to be vulnerable. He's got the skills, he just needs to improve his defence a bit more so he doesn't panic when he's hurt.

I'm not sure about his chin but his track legs work great. He did win however and that is the most important thing. But him wanting to fight mayweather hell even rodger is Just straight foolishness. And comparing khan fighting maidana to Floyd fighting anyone makes absolutly no sense. This wasn't khan against a good fighter. This was maidana who couldn't hit Floyd if he had his back turned and eyes covered. Khan isn't garbage but he isn't even close to half as good as people give him credit for

His chin is still the same. But his defense difinitely improved.

Watching the fight again, it seems to me that there were a lot of opportunities that he could have countered Maidana with bombs. But he was more concentrating of not being hit clean in the chin. It's hard to exchange fires while both guards up with chin tucked real tight, circling the ring, and punching backwards.

He did what he had to do against one of the p4p best puncher in the world. Great strategy I must say.

I need to see the fight before I comment but as far as future fights go, I'd like to see Khan fight Bradley/ Alexander.
Although I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Judah or Marquez... Only because the would make him look good, I think.

The alternative ending to boxing conscious of a weak chin is the Ricky Hatton one. So Khan knows that is the most important thing. Dont get hit clean and you won't get knocked out.

Plus with good speed and reflexes it makes sense to use that style.

He's bigger and stronger now compared to Prescott. His head doesn't snap back like it did, kept him from falling over.
