    Default Hopkins

Why is it that there are all these articles about some boxers using PEDS? And nothing is being said about Hopkins. How is it that a 44 Year old Hopkins has no stamina against and Old Jones and Has the stamina of a 25 Year old against a 29 year old Pascal and still looked fresh at the end of the fight?

Hopkins has never refused testing maybe? Its not like he is a high volume boxer. He fought at his pace that whole fight. Quit hating basically.

No hating here, just he didn't have that kind of stamina against Jones and at the end of the fight he was exhausted. Jones thew nothing at Hopkins to slow him down. Yet against Pascual he is vibrant at the end of the fight. Explain it!

He also looked sluggish against Calzaghe, towards the end of the fight. Calzaghe did bodywork, Pascal did very little. The RJJ fight he pretty much was in control throughout, how do you know he was exhausted? He didnt exactly collapse after the fight. That fight was really kind of slow action wise, maybe he was just playing up like he tried harder than he actually did.

Did you get this idea from the Michael Marley article?

Double Standard? Hopkins Praised, Pacquiao Smeared - Boxing News

He did train with Roach. Maybe Roach gave him some special stuff. BTW, FLoyd Sr. and the Mayweather clan are now saying Amir Khan is on something too, because he took Maidana's power.

I am not suggesting he is juiced, but I have to say that I find it really odd how in some fights he seems like and old man who has nothing left and then suddenly in his next fight he is like a 22 year old again

Hopkins is experienced and slows the pace down to his level. Also he has kept in good condition so that should explain it. Also he should retire on a high.

B-Hop's workrate wasn't that good, he was still only throwing one punch at a time mostly. And he actually threw less in the Jean Pascal fight, than he did in 2nd RJJ fight.

Compare that to the young B-Hop who was an animal, often throwing alot of punches and KO'ing opponents brutally.

And it's clear as day he's just one of those dedicated guys, who keeps himself in shape all year round. I've seen most of B-Hop's fights and i can't remember him ever being out of shape.

Can speculate all day but Hopkins has preserved himself like no other fighter in history. Defines the term "keep your powder dry". Against Pascal he was fighting vs a real viable threat who dumped him on his azz for title and history.....vs Jones he was fighting the ghost of a great for money. His intro music spoke volumes last month, singing I did it my way in his own words.

i've never seen Hopkins out of shape period, the dude is a gym rat, and he's FULLY dedicated to boxing, meaning he's not juggling like 5 professions at a time and then performing the way he does like Pacquiao

You know, on this one, I thought Pascals output got that low that at arond 5 or 6 I was thinking that there must be something wrong with him or his shoulder or somethin and i was surprised that wasn't mentioned by the fight commentators. For someone on top of his game and relatively young like Pascal, his output was unbelieveably low. That definitely helped Hopkins appear to have a decent output, when really he didn't.

I read the Marley article a few days ago and thought it was complete rubbish. Hopkins takes great care of himself, he walks around close to his fighting weight and always turns up in great condition. The reason he didn't look sluggish or tire against Pascal is because almost nothing was coming back at him - Pascal's work rate was awful and Hopkins controlled the fight and was allowed to fight at his own pace.

Hopkins just knows ring smarts and how to frustrate guys into fighting at his pace his style...He has short burst during the rounds that in truth any pro fighter retired or not who has kept up with their physical health shoulb be able to....When was the last time you seen Hopkins go to war?....

Hopkins in truth is a big part of what is bad about boxing....He uses his position with promoters to gain fights he really does not deserve and when things don't go his way during fights he causes havoc with tantrums excuses then fouls the shit out of guys...

People credit him for still being active and fighting the guys he is at his age but Archie Moore did it til around then Foreman did it til around then and they eithere won or lost with dignity Hopkins just acts like trash and acts as if the whole world is against him.....At one time Hopkins was a great fighter who only hurt himself with the way he negotiated now he is just an outright joke...

Totally, the commentators were trying to say that Pascal had taken a round off, but that round off ended up being about 7 rounds of the fight. I swear he threw only 30 punches a round in the second half. His stamina and workrate was appalling. It wasn't that hard for Hopkins to outwork him.
