Shadow boxing is real boxing- only in your mind. So as you get better at the basic things, like keeping your hands in the right place and throwing your punches properly, and moving your feet correctly, you'll get better. When you learn how to slip and block punches you'll get better still. Then you need to learn how to make somebody miss on purpose and to hit them back ands your shadowboxing will improve greatly because you'll really have something to work with. And after you start sparring you can redo those sessions in front of the mirror...and so on.
Just starting out, I would suggest this, while watching yourself throw punches in the mirror: how would I fight that guy? See the mistakes that you make, where you are open to be hit, because that is what an opponent would see, and fix it.

All the pro's there where novices too when they started so will know exactly how you feel.

When you shadow box pretend there is a fighter in fornt of you defending and countering when you throw punches and look at where you are leaving yourself open. That should sharpen it up.

    Good luck with the training.
