I personally thought Lewis was down when the fight was stopped but he was certainly taking control and had it gone much longer Lewis would have ended up stopping Vitali anyway.

IT was pretty obvious to me that Vitali was on his way out in the very next round. Not only was he dead tired but lewis' punches started to take a toll on him and he was fighting off pure instincts.. How could anybody have not seen that.. Frankenstein was on his way to a brutal KO loss so he should be thankful that the fight got stopped.. shit.. Dude was hanging on for dear life because he was totally out of it.. that uppercut he ate was the beginning of the end and he was only a few punches away from getting KTFO..

Rematch would have been worse for him because Lewis would have been fully prepared... Lewis would have knocked his sorry ass out.. it's that simple.

That fight was a fucking disgrace to heavyweight boxing anyway. A couple of bumbling, stumbling, fools out there clobbering each other with off balance arm punches. Lewis was terribly out of shape and embarassed himself...but he still won. And as you say he was going to win regardless of the cut and should have been up on the cards IMO.
