Default Hopkins vs Jones-2002 at light heavyweight. Who wins?

My pick goes to Hopkins by sd just because i think he has too much ring smarts at that time for Jones to deal with. But thats just my opinion I want to hear yours.

This is why hops is an opportunist. He waited until roy was shot cuz he knew he couldnt beat roy in early 00..
Roy offered him a 60-40 split for a rematch back around 02 but hops priced himself out. The deal was more than generous yet hops didnt want none.

So that tells us how eager bernard was to avenge his loss.

I think Jones was always scared of hops after he became something, He knew he was smarter than he was in 93 there for always talked a good game but never let it materialize.

roy was scared of hopkins ? Lol roy was the pfp king back then as a lightheavy while hopkins was coming off of his biggest victory against a former welterweight in tito.why would roy be afraid? Thats silly.

Considering the circumstances, a 60-40 in favor of roy was more than reasonable. On top of that, he had already beaten hops so hops needed the rematch more than he did.

Roy had options while hopkins' options were limited at the time. So who loks more scared?

Hops turned down the good offer for a reason.

Even with old Roy in front of him, Hopkins was still crying foul every 5 minutes to catch a break and trying to turn the ref. It was pathetic. Hopkins is good at getting things working in his favor. It got him a lot further than he would have gotten on his skill level alone.

Also dont forget, Roy fought mostly one handed in the first fight. With two good hands, more speed, more strength and more skill, Roy greases Bernard easy.

A former welterweight who moved to middleweight and was the favorite to win, right?
Roy knew he didnt have the technical ability to beat hops, he knew hops was a different animal than when he last fought him and he wasnt a low tier light heavyweight who no one ever heard of like all of Roys opponents, he was the undisputed Middleweight champ who would have moved up and taken Roy to a place he never been to. Hopkins doesnt care about the money he cares about his pride and he would have avenged that loss in 2002 instead of waiting for roy to get desperate and wait all those years.

Yea and for the record, an 02 roy beats any version of hopkins. No doubt about it.

No way 02 Roy gets taken to the cleaners and schooled by any version of Hopkins.

Tell me about it. The way hops looked in the rematch was downright pathetic. Rolling all over the canvas by a tap to the back of his head. Dude was groveling for extra points. The funny thing is, in his mind, he probably thinks that was a legit victory over a live roy.

Clearly this guy is a bhop hugger that wants to read opinions but no matter what will never say RJJ would beat hopkins... RJJ from 1988-2003 beats any version of HOP 9.5 out of 10 times.... I'll bet he even uses the typical Bhop fan excuse that bhop was too green when they fought and he lost the first time even though RJJ was ranked #2 and Bhop was ranked #1....

This notion of hops being " green " back in 03 makes me laugh everytime. Its just not true..

Hopkins would be lucky to win more than 2 rounds.

Roy Jones was still a phenom at this time, lighting fast, nearly unhittable, and had some heavy firepower.

Are u serious I find this laughable and I mean no disrespect to you but nothing about what RJJ was doing in 02 would suggest fear of Hopkins. I kinda like BHop but to be honest Jones was just too much for him. Sorry!

Jones wins. I think it would be easy too. No one looks good vs Hopkins but Jones would have been dominant imo

    I'd favor Jones to win.

Hopkins always had trouble with guys more athletic and faster than he was and Jones is probably one of the best athletes the sport has seen.

Jones would of won a UD, it would of been a ugly fight.
