I think Ponce Deleon showed Gamboa still has things to work on vs a stead fast boxing type, but I think Jorge has a ways back off last fight. Personally I'm hoping for rematch with Demarco.

I go with Linares. Gamboa has too many fundamental flaws to beat a well schooled technician like Linares. Gamboa wont have a huge speed advantage either because Linares is pretty quick himself..

    Gamboa gets killed..

Killed? That's a big call bro. Remember Salgado sparked him & DeMarco who ain't the fastest around was able to tag him

I see salgado-Linares as a lightning-in-a-bottle type of thing and I dont ever see Salgado beating him again.. Linares just got caught cold after miscalculating his guard..

DeMarco i give him alot of credit.. While he didnt have a high punch output, he put educated pressure on Linares and caught him with hard shots in between... sort of like what happened in Chavez-Taylor... Ultimately though, I think the freakish cut of Linares had alot to do with the way the fight turned out.. I mean, Linares was in total control and i believe he would have cruised to a clear decision if it wasn't for that rare cut... But anyway..

Gamboa is yet to show that kind of poise under pressure and I dont think he can do what DeMarco did..

Don't get me wrong I think Linares is an outstanding fighter, with excellent skills. But he didn't get that cut by himself DeMarco was hitting him. Gamboa would end things brutally imo

Gamboa is the fastest and most talented man in boxing.

He just has to focus and refine his skills, and have a freakin GAMEPLAN for his fights.

Linares may be bigger, but I'd figure on Gamboa lighting him up all night.

Linares by decision for me, Gamboa might be super fast but he gets tagged quite often. hell pdl aint a bad fighter but hes not really known for his boxing skills, or his speed and is quite small compared to gamboa yet that was one close fight. Also gamboas chin is far from a rock, i mean it wasnt that long ago that he was getting knocked down by part time fighters, and i dont see him refining enough to outbox linares in the foreseeable future. demarco deserves credit for that win but i say 9 out of 10 times linares beats him to a decision, close to a shutout till the stoppage.

Gamboa won every single round against Ponce De Leon. How was that a close fight bro ?

I need to view the fight again but Linares claimed that the cuts and broken nose were caused by headbutts and elbows. Lanky fighter with pointy elbows like Demarco tend to cause alot of cuts while punching and the same thing happened in the Valero bout if you remember..

Cuts we see often but the one on the bridge of Linares' nose was a not-so-typical type..All the blood he swallowed combined with the blood covering his vision really put him at an unfair disadvantage.... assuming those injuries were caused by non-punches of course.. Either way bro, Linares beats him in a rematch and i bet you he'll come in as the favorite.. and for a good reason..

We all know what Gamboa is about but he does have glaring flaws that can be exploited. Everytime he was caught or knocked down, it was because of his fundamental flaws. He's fast yet often times, that speed becomes less relevant because of his wasted movements and poor defense. That's why slow guys like Salido and a few others had no problems tagging him..

He has a bad habit of relying too much on his natural talents and reflexes but only special fighters like Roy is able to fight that way and get away with it.. Gamboa is clearly not on that level and he should be boxing more..

His biggest flaws is how he moves straight back with his hands down while chin exposed.. He can get away with this against slow, inferior fighters but against Linares, he would be up against someone who's rangier, more skilled, and nearly as fast with a respectable punching power.

Linares is just the kind of fighter who can capitalize on Gamboa's many mistakes..

Linares may come in as the fav in a DeMarco rematch & with good reason, he was ahead clearly on the cards. But DeMarco will be a tough out for anybody. I'd pick him the defeat Linares again...

I agree that Gamboa is a very flawed fighter but Linares will always have a question mark over his chin imo & against a fighter as explosive as Gamboa that's bad news everyday of the week
