Going by the fact that Pacquiao and Mayweather may never fight and are both considered by some to the have the top spot its quite likely that either one of them will still be there when they hang em up for good. Was Sugar Ray Leonard the no.1 after he fought Hagler? He arguably did the same thing as well, although he had a couple of terrible comebacks.

Calzaghe's best fights up to that point were Lacy & Kessler, adding in way past their best Hopkins & Jones still doesn't come close to over taking Floyd or Manny. No bandwagon here cuz, just simple logistics!
