Default Patrick Forde, Guyana Lightweight Champ, dead at 54

Boxing champion Patrick Forde dies - Stabroek News - Guyana

    Patrick Ford - Boxer

here is his good friend's comment in Stabroek News of Georgetown, Guyana:

"I have known Pat since I was a teenager nearly all my life. Patrick has been married with children, living a good, healthy, moral life in Brooklyn, New York. Patrick ate healthy, very often cooked for his entire family, exercised everyday, did not drink alcohol and was a seriously committed family man.
My deepest, deepest, heartfelt sympathy to the Forde family! I hope Guyanese come out to show support for this great son of Guyana, here in New York. Pat will be dearly missed!"

Patrick Ford wasn't a Lightweight was he ? i see his battle with Salvador Sanchez, very close fight that was with Salvador Sanchez just getting the nod. From what i can remember from that fight, Patrick Ford was pretty tall for a Featherweight. And Salvador Sanchez had trouble with the height and reach, Patrick Ford looked like a pretty solid fighter in that fight.

But never really built on that good performance, except going 13 rounds with Eusebio Pedroza. A fight i haven't seen but going 15 and 13 rounds, with fighters of that quality shows he was no pushover R.I.P.
