LAS VEGAS – Only seconds after Manny Pacquiao squeezed out a majority decision victory over Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, prompting angry fans to pelt the ringside area with drinks, promoter Bob Arum said he’s going to do a fourth fight between the men.

Pacquiao retained his World Boxing Organization welterweight belt by defeating Marquez by the closest of margins. Judge Glenn Trowbridge had it 116-112. Dave Moretti saw it 115-113 and Robert Hoyle had it 114-114.

As he made his way through an angry crowd that shouted obscenities at him, Arum told Yahoo! Sports, “It was a great, great fight. I had Manny, but it was close, so why not bring them together again in May? It makes a lot of sense to do that.”

The fighters fought to a split draw in 2004 in a featherweight fight. Pacquiao won a split decision in a super featherweight title fight in 2008.

Representatives of Floyd Mayweather Jr. had reserved the MGM Grand for May 5, ostensibly to make a fight with Pacquiao. On Friday, Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya said the fight was closer than ever, but with Arum’s announcement, the richest fight in history will be on hold for a while longer.

Anything to keep him away from Floyd a little longer.

I dont like it for Marquez. Can you imagine how deflated he must feel? He knows full well what stage of his career he is at and that maybe that was just has last good performance. He might feel he cant put the same effort in to the next training camp knowing no matter what he does bar a KO he wont win because Arum wants that Mayweather fight.

Arum will put Manny in with Floyd eventually because its daft not to but for now he will milk him for what hes worth.

I do think that Marquez will have an even better chance, his skills are still there but Mannys speed is going, its been masked by the level of opponents over the last couple of years.

After hearing about all that transpired with the judges not having seen this fight because of my work schedule, I hear Bob Arum's mouth is spewing saliva at the prospect of a fourth match. One thing I have always believed is that promoter aren't worth their weight in dog excrement when it comes to honor. Now I really begin to wonder about the decision. There's an outrage in Mexico right now and Arum knows better. It was the Mexican's who have been fattening up Arum's pockets all these years so it's wise not to piss them off..

It's only right for the 4th bout to be held in Mexico and Im pretty sure if Pacman gets another gift over there, he's not going to make it out alive. There's going to be a riot and bad things might happen to him.. Who knows, he could even suffer the same fate as those soccer goalies who failed to block a shot.. dudes be getting killed over stuff like that.

I want to see Pacquaio V Floyd because of the unknown factor, Pacman V Marquez can always occur later irrespective of the result against Floyd. PBF must be loving the fact that Arum wants another Marquez fight with Pacman just to soften him up again. What's the unknown bruh? Floyd-pac is one of the easiest fights to predict ever. There is nothing intriguing about the fight besides the fact that its between pfp #1 and 2.. In reality, its just a big mismatch.
