Is it just me or does anyone else find it ironic that Apple whose whole companies history has been built upon monetising the design work of others and was supposedly formed by a Buddhist with a hippy zen like counter culture being so litigious and corporate. For example

add to this the irony of Bill Gates philanthropy when everybody viewed him as the corporate antichrist, and the snobbery of many early Mac adopters and I have never really bought into the hype. I have friends in graphic design who have always swore by the macs stability and have met numerous producers who go on and on about the superiority of Logic and other mac music software as well as the stability issue but I just can't detach my own distaste for the companies exclusivity from any neutral appraisal of the platform.
I started off with a ZX81 and then A spectrum followed by a Commodore 64 and it was the 64 that first introduced me to the possibilities and usefulness of computers and music, I then moved onto an Amiga and loved the platform for writing and triggering music and for playing games and from there went to PC's. The point is there have been times when I could have afforded a mac but have always went the PC route (even in my I hate Bill Gates and his nicking Amiga workbench and calling it windows phase).
The i-pod and now the i-phone and i-pad whilst undoubtedly great bits of technology seem to attract a large percentage of adopters who just need to be seen with the latest gizmo and need to buy the concept of chic and it justs puts me off. That and the inflated price tag.
