How can you go from a 200 mill+ fortune to auctioning your medal! Unbelievable and sad.

Tyson , Balboa and now Holyfield. All boxers to blow a $200m+ fortune

It will happen again too - are we supposed to feel sorry for them ??
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate

If Holyfield ever does a tell-all it will be a best seller, especially with boxing fans! It's difficult for most of us to believe the man has very little money left. To be a professional athlete, at and around the highest level, for all those years takes dedication and motivation, but apparently little intelligence. I've always been a Holyfield fan but it's hard to feel any real sympathy for the guy. He wasn't in the fight game for a few years and then screwed out of his money. He was around for a long time and should have learned something.

Ugh I just picture that scene from Raging Bull where Jake knocks the jewels out of his championship belt and tries to pawn them. Nothing sadder than seeing a legend who squandered his fortunes.

Damn shame. All he had to do was use protection or keep it in his pants and maybe he would still have millions.

It's amazing to me how many people don't understand that at the end of every year the taxman comes and takes his cut.

The pictures of his mansion being repossessed were pretty grim, but if he'd have sold that earlier while he was still the legitimate owner then he'd get a much better price for it than after everyone finds out its up for grabs cheap because it was a repossession. It's a shame for him, but no wonder he's still fighting at the ripe old age of 72.

this is how you blow that much money...assume that it will come in forever, and spend $20 million a year, lock yourself into $1million per month payments, and a house and property that requires a staff of 50 (and salaries) to maintain. trying to double the population of the world doesn't help, either.
Want to keep your money? Keep your dick in your pants and conduct yourself as a man, instead of as a cash-flush punk. Buy a house for cash that you can live in; don't build a monument to stupidity.

Holyfield apparently isn't good with money, why else would he be auctioning a Bronze metal he won a the Olympics. It wouldn't seem like he'd get a hell of a lot for the metal.

Holyfield was the one fighter that I thought would keep his money as he was smart and just had a lawyer and no other hanger-ons. Hell he was tight with his money and sacked Manny Steward because he thought he could not teach him anything. Just sad that he has children all over the place.

Hey if it contributes to him taking less fights and punches from guys who couldn't think of hanging with him decades ago, shine that thing up and E Bay that thing. Shit...should have been a Gold in the first place.

Be great if his home town museum or something like that bid for it as well as a sporting institute. Pawn stars of Vegas would give him about $1800 tops

Some rich sports nut might want the Bronze medal, and pay big bucks for it, but I kinda doubt it, unless they're just trying to help Holyfield out.
The fact is the Bronze medal probably doesn't mean much to Evander, since he should by rights have won the Gold.
