Ufc 146
I thought it was a pretty good card w/o any major surprises other than Varner winning. Hardy got a much needed win against a solid opponent and as I thought Mir just doesn't have the athleticism or the wrestling to hang with Junior. Honestly Brown was probably the biggest surprise. Anyway with all the HW fights it poses an interesting question of what is next for the division. For arguments sake I am going to assume Cormier still has to fight once more for SF and that Lesnar is not coming back
JDS vs Overeem: Assuming Alistair can get licensed this is still the most dynamite fight out there for HW
Mir vs Barnett: Doubtful either of these guys get another title shot and I'm not even sure if Barnett will ever fight int he octagon but it pits two of the best submission guys in the game and could be a main event fight. I hope Frank drops some more weight.
Cain vs Werdum: I know people are talking Cain vs Junior II but he needs to show more before a rematch of a fight he lost inside the first 2 minutes. Ideally I'd like to see this fight with Cormier but that would be a long wait.
Miocic vs Travis Browne: Two up and comers. A good win here pushes the victor into the next level.
Nelson vs Hunt: Both guys can bang and what it lacks in technical skills it will make up for in fireworks
Del Rosario vs Johnson: Both guys are active strikers that have looked good and are both coming off losses. A decisive win by either puts them back in the mix.
Big Foot vs Carwin: Not sure what has kept Shane on the shelf for so long but this would be an entertaining fight with two behemoths
Struve vs Schaub: A little bit of a step down after a big win by Stefan but he has kind of been up and down. String together a couple wins here and maybe a fight with Big Nog down the road.
Rothwell vs Cheick: Ben looked in fantastic shape against Schaub and Cheick is the perennial gate keeper. If Ben is really going to step up his game he needs to win against a always game fighter like Kongo.
