Apparently won't be fit until late October, early November. This is a shame for Canelo, who's going to step up now? I think Lara will be interested, that would be a good fight.

How can a professional fighter, on June 1st, turn down a good money fight on September 15th, and say that he would not be able to get ready in more than 90 days? It takes him more than 4 months to 'get fit'? Coward, most likely. That would be a unification fight, right?

Here is the source. I think it's fair enough if he's not fit, he's not fit. This is the biggest fight of his career and highly risky, it's not worth the risk if he's not fit and he mentally won't be up for it, with the risk of making the injury worse.
It's better pulling out early than late IMO.
Ahh poop!
Rubio? Ishida? Molina? Not sure what HBO will "approve" though
With Trout-Rodriguez, Brundrage-Spinks, Vanes-Davis, Mundine-McKart, Rosado-Powell, already scheduled, I'm thinking all that leaves for Canelo is: Carlos Molina, Erislandy Lara, Lukas Konecy, Charlie Ota, Carlos Quintana (maybe), Alfredo Angulo, David Lopez.
I would think a fight with Sergio Mora would do Canelo good
I just wonder if it's too quick of a turn around for Quintana.....Lara would be the best option. Still wouldn't mind seeing Canelo KO Sergio Mora (although I doubt that would happen even if they fought).
I have this feeling that slick boxers will be very difficult for Canelo. You look in the past at guys like Julio Cesar Chavez and how impressive he was until he fought Pernell Whittaker, I'm thinking it will be like that for Canelo.
Lara is a risky fight for Canelo but im pretty sure he's earned the fight, I can't remember his ranking but i don't think it will be that far behind Kirklands.
I don't think a mora fight would be HBO PPV quality IMO. I think it's a tough call for the promoters on who to pick. I think Angulo would be good for the Mexican fans but he's put himself out of the picture with that Kirkland performance though.

Lara , trout and bundrage are the choices. Not too bad IMO.
Frankly, he's not facing Lara or Trout. I don't see it. Given that its Canelo & the WBC, any of these guys will be made his mandatory for the fight. It would be really aggressive for them to put him in with Lara or Trout when they have a Cotto pay day around the corner. Granted, this is a ppv, so it has to be a competitive opponent. Quintana might be a good choice.
Trout and Lara are risky and I do agree that they more than likely wont happen. Lara however does deserve the fight though, he won't get it because of the reasons you stated. Bundrage wouldnt be too bad for a unification, and would be the least risky out of the three.
Canelo is ringside for the trout fight, so he will probably judge how much of a threat he is in person.
It's a tough call really. I don't know who they will pick though, I stand by Lara is the most deserving though having the number one rating.
