Now I know we're all preoccupied with the debacle that was the main event's scoring. I do however have to remind you Abril and Campillo's robberies were worst because I don't think either Cloud or Rios won 3 rounds in each fight.
Anyways, I would like to talk to you all about the Cuban man with the left hand of God. He does one thing that utterly baffles me and that is when he does a 'practice stroke' with his punches. I don't know why no one tries to counter over that slow punch nor do I know why he almost always lands that exact punch. Whatever it is, its amazing.
Second point is that it’s very strange for an expert armature fighter to go to the body with hard body punches. Reason being that a body punch is worth as much as a punch to the head and far riskier. The fact that he throws that punch with conviction and that he can knock you out with it, is something special. The mark of a power puncher is the fact that he can K.O you with a punch to the gut. Good god he's got power.
He's gotten more aggressive since his debut fight which great all the while he's still defensively very responsible. I think he can have an easier time against Mares than Donaire because Mares loves to come forward and that is something Rigondeaux loves.
As for Donaire, after much consideration I believe the fight will be a non-event ending in a KO. I based this on Donaire's fights against defensively sound fighters and his inability to slip past a jab (as his last two fights showed) I think Donaire will get bored and before he knows a sharp Brazo Izquierda Del Diablo will find its way towards his chin.
Of course I can be dead wrong about this and I do welcome your thoughts and opinions.
