Mayweather vs. Guerrero is Close To Done For May 4th - Boxing News

As expected. What do you guys think of this one? I hear Canelo will be the co-feature, so I think if Mayweather beats Guerrero and Alvarez wins his fight, they'll fight in September.

This is an easy fight. The only way Guerrero could make it otherwise is if he's allowed to pull the same kind of crap he was against Berto, and given Floyds clout there is about no chance at all of this. I like Guerrero but he has absolutely nothing for Floyd, will be a matter of whether he is stopped or not. Canelo is as good an opponent as anyone outside of Martinez though, that I would look forward to.

With respect I imagine Aydin and Berto thought the same thing. After all he was a powder puff light weight. Wrong he was a welter that fought at 135. His ko ratio is irrelevant as he just proved in the last half a year. He's a legitimate fighter of the year imo.

To be honest, this one is not worth seeing and captivating us. Really. Next.

Booo doubters...boooo Seriously though...I dont mind this one at all and actually look forward to it! Guerrero has earned his spot and I wouldn't call what he did to Berto crap at all..he whipped his ass and beat him at his own game. Badly. Not bad for a guy moving two divisions up...legitimately.

I see Mayweather on the cards yeh. The Ghost isn't outboxing Mayweather and if he lays inside his heart and will should be wearing gloves as well. But he'll grind, he'll guile and he'll continue to feed off of what got him here recently...doubt and drive. I won't be shocked to see him rough Mayweather up more than he was vs Cotto...his last fight...where he actually looked human. Hell...let Canelo sit ringside. Given his last couple of ring appearences and how the "sure thing opponent" got turned on his head I'm sure Guerrero won't mind a bit I'll be rooting ten times as hard if Canelo is actually fighting Cotto

Got no problem with the fight. Guerrero earned it. He might not win it but he'll be competitve

I agree he should be high on the fighter of the year list, that he deserves a shot at Floyd but it's hard for me to give him a real chance against Floyd.
Floyd wins, whether I want him to or not, like always.

Have to agree, as much as I like Guerrero he has no chance against Money. A lot of fighters I would have preferred to see Guerrero fight instead of Mayweather, but I'd say they could still happen if he loses.

I do not give him much of a chance either but who knows. There is always the chance that a different Floyd shows up because of his long inactivity practises.

Can't imagine inactivity should matter. He's constantly training. Sure look what he did to Marquez after 2 years out.

I don't disagree, it's just that Aydin and Berto aren't in the same universe as Mayweather, it doesn't really matter what they thought. Having said that it's a perfectly logical fight and I'm sure it will be fun, Guerrero can box very well and he's a southpaw so Floyd will probably force the action as often as not.

No doubt. Floyd had some issues with Corley and Judah and its widely known that the Mayweathers do not like southpaws as a rule. Well not including Ortiz who seemed more inclined to stick his tongue down Floyds throat.

I'll be interested in seeing what Guerrero's game plan will be. With some technical boxers, the key to victory lies on getting inside, but Mayweather is just as dangerous there. No chance in hell of outboxing Floyd from range ... he sure is a tough nut to crack.

I do like Guerrero's grit though - that fight with Berto was nasty, yet beautiful at the same time.

    Lol. Ortiz was friendly.

After may it will be 44-0.

Cant beat those accurate pin point shots, granite chin and superb defense.

Cant wait to see those skills in action. 36 years old..lets see if hes starting to slip.
