Default Anthony Mundine Vs Daniel Geale

These 2 are fighting for the IBF Middleweight title, 30th Jan!

I love athletes that become boxers and actually do well, none of the shirt and tie, 2 minute shit that Flintoff did.

But Mundine is 37 and Geale holds a win over Felix Sturm, though neither are hugely powerful.

Who are we thinking for the win?

Remembering that Mundine already beat Geale in a SD in 2009.

Geale has improved a lot since the first fight and he was unlucky to lose the first one. Mundine hasnt done much since fighting Geale and hes older now. I think Geale wins a UD this time out, Geale needs to fight a decent name at 160, he did well beating Sturm.

Geale has a lot more to lose here if things don't go his way. Mundine is taking this fight because his name is mud in the USA and he will not get offered a decent pay day against anybody. I think Geale will win this fight and win easily, beating Sylvester and Sturm in Germany is an exceptional effort considering the corrupt judging system there. Mundine has some talent, but it has been largely wasted and his performances in two fights against club fighter Garth Wood were ordinary to poor. Geale by UD with a possible KO by mid rounds.
This puts him in the mix for a possible Martinez or Golovkin fight. Geale is a tough nut.

Good fight. Mundine is aging but is still tricky. Geale's volume workrate should be the difference. Geale decision.

Geale will beat him this time as he is at a different level now from Mundine who I will never forgive for getting knocked out by Sven Ottke FFS!

Have been thinking about this for a while and definately have an opinion on this fight. Just waiting for it to come up on here to discuss...

I think at this stage its pretty unanimous we all feel Geale should win this return bout. His work rate will be the difference. I too see a UD for Geale or even mid round stoppage. Geale is hitting a lot harder since their last bout too. I share many sentiments ThirdManIn has. Not sure whether Geale's power punching along with his work rate and pressure will be something the 37yr old Mundine can handle at this stage in his career. I saw footage of Choc (Mundine's nickname) sparring in preparation for this bout and he is getting hit far too often in the inside fighting with some of Geale's best weapons which is the inside uppercut and short hooks to the head.

In saying that Mundine is a world class athlete IMO and has reached heights in both sports he has competed in. With this world class athleticism comes world class experience too! Like most top class athletes Choc has an unbelievable ability to dig deep within himself and respond to pressure cooker situations. This fight with Geale considering it is his last roll of the dice is exactly this situation.

Choc at Middleweight is still blistering fast (especially his cobra like jab) and takes more of his power from his SMW days rather than his lack of (power) when he fights at Jnr MW. He still has the skill set to trouble Geale more than either Sturn or Sylvester IMO. For Choc to be competetive here he has to establish power jabs with power crosses, quick crisp hooks, slick slips and defense and don't let Geale sit on him and work his combos. Essentially Choc has to dig into all his reserves and arsenal to pull this one out IMO, and I do believe Choc has the power to stop Geale too if an opportunity presents itself.

Just off topic does anyone know how ticket sales are goin for this fight?

p.s thanks guys for all your subjective/constructive feedback and comments and not turning this into a troll fest bagging on Mundine or the fact that its an Aus bout. It is still a championship fight and I commend you guys for your comments in regards to it. It also shows a great deal of respect towards the TS! Peace guys!!!

I hope Geale flattens him. Mundine needs to find a set of balls and back up his many, many words. Fuck it, hopefully I predict it and it happens...Geale by KO.

Geale wins, then I hope this sets up a unification bout with GGG. That'll be an excellent fight which HBO would jump on.
