Default How do you prefer your beer? warm or icey cold

Here in the States, i'd say that we like our brew , on ice or right out of the 'fridge, although personally, when it's cold outside I don't mind drinking it a bit warm. I keep a case or 2 of beer in my garage and/or "man cave" that stays 60 degrees or less in the winter.

I can recall beer being served at room temperature at pubs in the UK as late as the 60's, but I really don't know what it's like there now. Just guessing i'd say Germans, Russians, and other Euopean countries, et al still drink their brew warm, cool but not super cold. I'm not sure about Australians, I do know that their beer is quite potent compared to "yank' beers.

    Thoughts?

The aftertaste of a warm beer makes me wanna kinda of puke so definitely not that. But at the same time, I dont like it icey cold either..

I just like it moderately cold. At certain temperature, it just goes down my throat so smoothly and that's how i like it..

BTW, Ive been drinking alot of Fat Tire and Sierra Nevada..

Ice cold, free and needy, alot like my wom...nah...thats just too easy

I usually put every beer I drink in a freezer or have it iced under for a bit prior to popping the top. If its dark it goes in a iced mug or a chilled stein. "Room Tempature" is for meatloaf, Coffee and house plants etc.

yes I do this when Im thirsty and its hot and it is a lager or pilsener drinking type beer you can slug about 6 of 'em in 45 minutes---something like Miller or Coors or Molson or Moosehead or San Miguel or Schlitz or etc.

But if its a Dinkel Acker or a Becks or a nice Grolsch I dont want it to be ICY ICY cold. Just well-cooled to approaching mildly cold. Because those beers I care more about the taste. When its ice-ass ice-muthafuckkin cold, the taste is slightly covered up

p.s. and I have tried many a time the warm beers or even room temp and they are pretty good but I feel like I aint gettin the full satisfaction at that temp.

When I say "warm" I don't mean piss warm, maybe like 60 degrees or so, I like drinking my beer out side most of the time, when it's cold out, really cold beer tends to chill you 'inside' if you stay outside for a couple hours. That's why I say, I don't mind beer being a bit warmer.

When the weather is warm, yeah, I like it freezing cold.

Also, when I drink beer, I don't fuck around, I like something with a kick, bock type beers with a bit of ass to them are my faves.

    cheers

BTW, Grolsch is some tasty shit, I love those pint bottles, freezing cold.

Cold as they can come here too mate.
Ours used to be more potent but I think its all been pared back to a standard maybe 5.2 is about the strongest commercial one now, 4.50 probably around average. One used to be 7.5 way down south in Tassy.
The boutique breweries have the best now.

I can remember hearing about signs being put up in Aussie bars warning us yanks about the potency of Australian beer. Fosters for example had a really high alcohol content back in the day, us pussy ass Americans couldn't handle it.

    Lager
    Ale
    Bitter
    Stout

although technically both Bitter and stout are Ales

    are all Beers

    They are all very Different

    On tap
    In a bottle
    In a Can

    again very different

The Pilsner style pale Lagers That dominate the market today are usually best consumed cold as are some of the lighter golden Ales but a dark, fruity hoppy Ale is best not chilled. Not Warm. Just Unchilled. In fact the correct term is cellar temperature and that is distinctly cool just not ICE cold. The tradition of Ice cold lagers is rooted in the fact that the bottom fermented lager has to be fermented at very low temperatures in case it spoils. Top fermented Ales can be made at warmer temperatures without spoiling. Whether you like it or not, it is a fact, that top fermented ales have a much more complex flavour than most lagers and it does not require one to freeze your tastebuds before enjoying it. Don't get me wrong I can enjoy a cold refreshing Lager/beer on a hot day but it does not compare with the taste of a good quality real ale or Bitter at cellar temperature drawn from a pump. As Mars would say

    Cheers

friend o mine back in 1983 used to deliberately leave a case (24) of Carling Black Label in cans out in the hot summer sun on his front lawn whilst he tinkered on his old Dodge Charger in the driveway for a few hours. We 'd go out on the lawn and you had to wear gloves to pick up the cans as they were scorching fucking hot, pop them open and we'd drink them fucking hotter than fuck---you would get drunk in 12 minutes. That hot beer really hits you hard. Straight to the brain. Mainline. Carling Black Label beer:

It depends, for a typical domestic beer I want it as cold as it can get because there's not much flavor to damage. With craft beers & imports, slightly warmer because they have more flavor, more aroma etc.

But really i just take it how it's poured, I'm not fussy

I have a pretty large collection of .5 & 1 liter German beer mugs and steins, I keep a couple of them in the freezer all the time. Most domestic beer tastes better out of a frosted mug.
Budweiser, (which is no longer American owned BTW) came up with a new brew called "Black Crown", I bought a 12 pack of the stuff a few weeks ago, and have been pleasantly surprised at how good it tastes, which is nothing like regular Bud. Black Crown has some kick to it as well. 6% ALC by vol.
So many brews to choose from so little time to drink them all.

Yeah, 3.8, 4%, something like that, Coors Light actually tastes pretty fucking good, but the best part about it is you can drink 6 to 10 of them and not wake up with a hangover. I like those 16 oz. aluminum bottles Coors Light started marketing a few years back. On a hot summer day, after going for a long walk, mowing the grass and working in the yard, 3 of those 16 oz. aluminum bottles right off of ice from the cooler is just what the doctor ordered.
