    Default Collecting

I have some pretty cool stuff. Some items from both the American Revolution and the Civil war. Fossils I smuggled out of China and some other artifacts but my main interest in collecting is playing cards. I have very rare and expensive decks. I searched for two years to obtain my most treasured deck. I do magic, that's what got me into my cards but I am starting to wonder about my card collection. I hunt down and get a deck, I'm happy to get it and I put it in a box along with the rest of my valuable cards and put it back under my bed. If I open any of these decks the lose value. I can't have people over and show them my card collection, I've done that and I can tell they are bored after seeing the first deck. Does anybody else collect things and wonder why they are doing it.

I'm a garage sale junkie/second hand store guy. I really like old stuff. I tend to buy things put them in a box and not look at them again although lots of my stuff make up my furniture. Old bankers lamps. Old tripod Kodak studio lamps. Old school roll down maps as window blinds. A barbers chair for my computer chair. Circa 1950 teak end table. Massive hockey card collection but I stopped collecting years ago. A fair bit of boxing stuff. 35 mm camera lenses mostly Pentax. Major stamp collection buried in a few boxes. Probably own about 200 knives. Mainly just pocket flip type, couple of switch blades. I could go on lol.

Cards. I have never collected them but funny enough I picked up a strange deck at a church sale this past fall. Called the Crooked Deck made by A.Freed Novelty Inc. NYC. 1969 is the date they were made.

I think those old barber chairs can be valuable. I'm not familiar with that deck you mentioned if I find anything out about it I'll let you know.

    Thoose cards are kinda tripy!

When i was younger i collected guitars! still do but had to sell because financial reasons.
But i made money on it, they are valued more now and when i bought them! so that's a fair deal!
Also got a lot of world war 2 stuff from my grandpa but haven't had time to look things thru yet.

If you don't mind me asking what is your best guitar. I play the bass. I have a 1970 guild, it's not a very valuable one but I always like the sound. My only issue is the action is just to high on it. It is tough on the fingers but if I play it for a while it makes my other basses feel like butter. I don't play as much as I once did but back in the day I got a lot of tail after doing some shows. I spent sometime in a Grateful Dead cover band, I got a lot of hippie chicks.

I had a pretty epic stamp and hockey card collection when I was a kid, and still have a wack load of these old cigarette cards that used to come in packs way back which were all my grandfathers. They are worth a bit now but most of them aren't mint and I like looking at them now and then.

I shared a house with a guy who collected guitars and couldn't play a lick, and he was an asshole. Seriously considered faking a B&E and taking a few with me when I moved out, if he wouldn't have known it was me I might have. He had a 1933 Gibson archtop all solid mahogany, a 50 something Martin 000 18 or 28, an original Gretsch country gentleman, a 12 string Rickenbacker of some sort, few reliced tele's and loads more and seriously didn't take them off the wall

I own 7 guitars and would love to add to that but it's not in the budget any time soon.

That's nice! aah you got a few basses! sounds like a good time! love em hippie gurls,

Well i got an old ibanez acoustic who i think it's pretty cool, found it floating in a river and i took it up and got my old man to fix it up for me. so that's my favorite because it's a story behind it.
also got other guitars, example appaulose some low budget but sure sounds amazing.

But the one who's probably most money in is the fender stratocaster American made, look the same as the one that jimmy had, bought it for 850 dollar second hand of a guy who collect guitar, never been played with and i got it with a case which is worth probably 120-150 dollars, bought it around 3 weeks ago, in the states, took it home to sweden, can easily get over 2 grand for it here and in 10-20 years probably more.

Can't say i'm a good guitar player, mostly for fun and not in a band just play when i'm bored.

I got a ton of stamps that I bought from second hand stores when I was in high school. Many in books etc. Have not looked at them in years. A guy should. That 30 grand one that sold a while back was found that way. Tons of hockey cards and then about 20 years ago the floor collapsed. Everybody was getting in on the deal. Card shops on every corner. I got Gretzky's rookie card. I'll never sell it.

I got the original 1970 ESSO Nhl stamp collection in the book at my office. I mean the one I got as a kid and collected myself from my parents fill ups.

Last time I moved, I found a bunch of basketball cards and comic books I collected as a kid.. I forgot about them all those years but when I looked through the price list, I realized a lot of them turned out to be gems worth thousands of dollars... most of them in mint condition..

As an adult, I collected naked pics and raunchy videos of my girlfriends but I stopped doing that.

Today I collect guns, dupont lighters,Dvd movies, and james dean memorabilia..
