Thumbs up Would a prime Ricky Hatton beaten Broner.

I was watching Hatton vs Paulie as I usually watch old fights I have on my laptop.

And then I watched Broner vs Paulie and it made me wonder. Would that Hatton have beaten Broner? Or is it a case of styles make fights?

I don't think he would have, much less at 147, Broner is too accurate for Hatton at any point, I mean in no way would he have gotten schooled like he did against Mayweather, but Hatton would probably get outlanded down the stretch and beaten by UD

Hatton would stop Broner. His defence is leakier than a broken colander.

The Hatton the beat Zu would be hell on earth for anyone at 140. Including Broner or anyone else. Its the kind of style that gives Broner issues and he punches much harder then Rees or Paulie. He'd get Broner out of the wide stance and comfort zone to be sure.

Good vid from 2007 of Hatton comin' at you (Padholder wearing helmet cam.).

Pretty damn vicious, just rippin' shots.
Gives you a much different perspective and appreciation.

Hatton was The Man at 140.
I don't remember him ducking anybody.

Broner might be fast but he's not exactly an elusive target from what he has shown thus far, at peak form I say hatton grinds broner down.

Hatton is one of the greatest 140lbers of all time, but I think stylistically Broner might be a bad matchup for him with his quick hands and accurate counters.

It'd be a great fight though. Would have been a war.

That's cuz that Hatton had the guy who baptized him at birth (Dave Paris) as the referee.

That referee was a disgrace...not trying to diminish Hatton...but Zu deserved a lot better than that. As far as Hatton vs. Broner...on paper Broner should win. But i haven't seen him against a real live body to judge how he would do against a relentless guy like Ricky. One thing is for sure...at some point Hatton would get through Broner's overrated defense...how Broner would react is uncertain.

I think they would both be hell for each other honestly, could see it going either way. Broner has never fought anyone who would attack his body like Hatton would, but he would've also been well capable of hurting Hatton and turning things around fast.

Please that is one of the most over blown crocks of shit in the last 20 years. That was a dirty fight. Zu went low and Hatton went low back. Now go get the fight and tell me or show me all these ground braking infractions. Every-time there is a Brit fighting with a British ref just some worm comes out of the woodwork and cry's foul. Its like a default urban legend. Especially when their guy gets shit kicked.

Somebody produce the fight and show me all of this favourtism. Its funny because many of the same people that hurl these accusations are the same ones that deny Cortez's meddling in the Mayweather fight.

And if you want to talk about baptizing, and entire commission baptized Chavez Sr. when he lost the Ruiz fight and then it was magically changed by the will of God to a stoppage in his favour.

Don't give me that shit. Tszyu body shot was on the belt line and should of been called a knock down. Hatton low blow was clearly thrown on purpose. He himself admitted it. It was clear to everybody it was deliberately thrown. Paris damn near shook his hand, told him he was expected over for Sunday breakfast and sent him to a neutral corner. Didn't even bother with the meaningless warning. All fight Hatton was holding and hitting and pushing his forearm in Tszyu's face while they were against the ropes. Paris didn't do a damn thing. Without Dave Paris, Hatton doesn't win the fight. And Joe Cortez was a garbage ref. One way or another he fucked up every fight he was in. The way he reffed the Mayweather-Hatton fight is irrelevant.

I don't know what the fuck Chavez has to do with a Hatton and Tyszu conversation. But whatever. All they did was correct a bullshit call. Ruiz trainer, I believe was his own uncle. He himself said that not only did the punch land at the bell. But that Ruiz (who was born in Culiacan) could of got up and continued. But instead decided to look for the DQ win. For a fighter to take his first loss on some bullshit like that is wrong. Now you obviously gonna believe what you wanna believe. But if you're so sure it should of been a DQ L than let me see the proof.

You are the one who said Parris did some monumental hack job. I was merely making a comparison to put things in there proper perspective instead of the exaggerated accusation you leveled. All anybody has to do is youtube around for Cortez interfering and it would probably give you ten links including some with complete breakdowns round by round.

You see it’s really quite simple and it goes hand in hand with the situational use of both “underrated” and “overrated”. It’s the ends justifies the means again regardless of what people actually witness. When this happens objectivity leaves the room.

For example, when a fighter that is the perceived underdog challenges for a title and wins that title, the referee regardless of degree of interference is blamed for the result. People double down if the ref happens to be of the same nationality as where the fight takes place.

However if the same fighter challenges another titlist a division up on that persons turf with a ref of the champions nationality and the ref is seen by the entire planet interfering to the extent of warning the wrong fighter for an infraction along with never letting the challenger get close to the champion the ref was not a factor.

But all this is academic. Ricky would be a handful for any 140 pound fighter in history with or without a British ref.
