    Default Yo Yo Yo

I'm 18, 159 pounds, 5 foot 5 inches, waist at around 32 inches. Body fat at around 16% or something according to formulas on the net. I've been boxing for around three months now. I, due to being in full time education, can only do training three times a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday. I do that with a group of others at the local boxing gym. Question is, is there a point boxing when the frequency of my training is this low? I want to get into some amateur competing here and there. Also, obviously, want to get a more defined figure out of it all.

Each session lasts at least one hour, mostly averaging around an hour fourty five minutes. Pad work, heavy bag work, all the cardio stuff such as skippin rope etc and conditioning. Sparring sometimes, haven't been involved with much of it as of yet but I really want to.

Generally about me as a boxer, according to my coach I'm quick on my feet and have a large reach with my arms but need to work on actually utilising it by fully extending out during a cross etc etc. I'm average height I suppose in comparison to the others in my weight division.

Also any certain eating programmes to follow to keep in shape?

Three times a week is fine.
A days rest between training sessions is preferred.
As for Diet, no snacks, no sweets, no junk and no fizzy drinks.
You can run on your days off.

    Hi Orthodox95,

    Two suggestions:
    1) Incorporate HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) in your training regimen. Read up on Tabata and Fartlek protocols.
    2) Start sparring more because, in a nutshell, you get functionally prepared and better at boxing a resisting/non-compliant opponent by boxing a resisting/non-compliant opponent. The more you do it (relatively speaking and when guided properly), the better you'll get...

    You also asked:

In a word, NSNG = No Sugars, No Grains

    Anyway, hope this helps...

    Take Care,
    Lito

Drink wise I tend to stick to any random fruit juice. I don't pick the "from concentrate" ones cos apparently they're worse or something idk. But yeah, I don't like orange juice anyway haha so thats a win win.
