Yesterday morning I was getting ready to eat breakfast when my friend came by. He had his 40cal S&W pistol and said he was thinking about going out and doing some shooting. But when we were at the gas station, he said that he had been thinking about driving out to Yellowstone Park. I said that I hadn't been inside the park in more than 40 years. Two hours later, we were here:
Blue Goose Saloon on Park Street - Gardiner Montana
After two beers and two shots, we drove across the street and into the park. The north entrance is the only one open during the winter, and we drove in about 30 miles. There was a small herd of bison outside the hotel at Mammoth, and we saw a magnificent bull elk. Right at the park entrance there was a herd of cow elk and some antelope, and I saw a bald eagle as well.
To get there- to Gardiner, from Livingston- you drive through Paradise Valley, along the Yellowstone River.

I looked but couldn't find any pictures on-line that do justice to the reality of the place. Just stunning scenery. I saw at least 30 deer and that always makes me happy.
