Default One of the most underrated fights of this decade so far.

Angulo vs. Lara: Full Fight - SHOWTIME Boxing - YouTube

    Erislandy Lara vs Alfredo Angulo

Cracking fight, twists turns and drama - plus the ebb and flow that only happens when a boxer meets a brawler.

Now I can see why Floyd will not go anywhere near Lara.

Just goes against the idea that he's in boring fights.

Lara would be a problem for any boxer at his weight.
Awkward in and out sniper, very patient, waits for opponent to make mistakes, takes a good punch, does not give up, a real boxing terminator.
I can't understand why anyone would want their fighter in with him, especially the younger boxers. After seeing him pick apart some very good, tough opponents the more experienced boxers don't want to be in with him either.
I've said this before, Lara is a dangerous unsolved puzzle in my opinion.

Lara's a slick dude and that left hand is money, but I really don't think he's in Floyd's league in terms of boxing ability.

Floyd vs Lara would be a boring fencing match, and Floyd would take it. Lara's not landing those flush left hands on Floyd with any consistency. It's one thing to hit a slow "offense-first" plodder like Angulo with those, it's another thing to land them on Floyd.

The fact that this was an exciting fight doesn't speak highly for Lara. Angulo is a guy who he should have boxed and dominated with his boxing. He took way more punishment than you'd expect a slickster to take, including a ton of shots on the inside.

I'd like to see him in with another counter-puncher to see what his mind set would be - would he press/ force errors or the opposite?

The Angulo fight was in no way a good advert for a 'come get me' @ Floyd but then it's in no way indicative of how a fight would go against Floyd either. Angulo's pressure was a double edged sword.

I agree about Floyd, and Lara is there to be hit at times, but nobody is beating down his door.
Another thing to think about is that it's hard to avoid all punches, when an experienced guy like Angulo rushes in following your feet throwing punch after punch. Of course when you use that style, you face winds up looking like Angulo's. Lol

I get nervous for guys with that style. It's exciting as hell, but I think they're writing cheques their brains and bodies can't cash, and that shit catches up with you years down the road.

This would be the biggest and realistic challenge for Floyd. Unfortunately he will not go there.

His most impressive win IMO. I had a tough time scoring a round for Trout.

I rewatched this fight last night. It makes me wonder what Garcia could do for Angulo since what he was able to do with Maidana by making him more technical maybe Robert is just what Angulo needs in he's career right now.
