Who wins this ultimate matchup and why?
I would favor Lopez to be a bit too good for Chang. I really would have like to have seen Lopez vs Marc Johnson.
Both Jung Koo Chang and Myung Woo Yuh where great fighters , but both lacked power.
Ricardo Lopez had everything in his locker , including KO power going either forward or backwards , he wins because of this.
Chang was a guy I always wanted to see. It used to be hard to see some fighters. I knew about a lot of mexican fighters because i was always in mexican gyms and I used to go to juarez to see the fights. But Asian guys, I didn't see. Today I watched Chang and Chitalda.
Chang can't beat Lopez. that is a 3-5 round fight, max.
Lopez. Chang would be competitive for the first 2 rounds. Than Lopez smashes him. Lopez was an A+ fighter. Chang was a B-
Glad you took the time to watch Chang but I think you've seen only glimpses of him..
I agree that Lopez beats him but in 3-5rds you say?? that's ludacrious bro! Im 99% sure that it would last much longer than that. If anything, Finito finishes him in the championship rounds but even that's far fetched..
Chang and Yuh Myung Woo are considered as the best junior flyweights of all time on most historian's lists, including mine.. The top spot is actually a toss up between Chang and Woo...
Chang at his best was a beast my man.. He was like an energizer bunny with a style that resembled Duran and Arryon pryor.. He was like a mixture of both..
He threw high volume of punches and did it non stop from start to finish. He had incredibile work rate and his mobility was quick and efficient.
Judging from the size advantage, Chang may have tried to clinch and slip against Lopez and would not allow Lopez to use his quickness by moving around the ring and looking for the perfect timing to land hard shots. Due to Chang's incredible cardio, I dont see him being pushed into the ropes as he would have responded with rapid assault through flurry of punches as his counters. However, Chang had never been a true power puncher, as he only had 40% KO rate. He relied on mobility and boxing efficiently. Chang had a crazy strong chin as his only KO loss was the last bout of his career which was when he was shot to shit..
Chang at his best was a buzz saw straight up and his opponents had to work every minute of every round just to stay in the fight..
Put a gun to my head and Ill pick Finito by narrow decision but I wouldnt be surprised if Chang battered him..
Chang may have never fought a boxing master like Finito but Finito himself has never faced a relentless monster like Chang..
It's a toss up..
My friend, I watched those fights, and i respect your opinion about boxing. But you aren't going to trouble, much less beat, ricardo lopez with that straight ahead, throw punches style. That is made to order for him. I watched Chang vs Gonzalez and he took a ton of punches. Lopez hit harder and cleaner.
Chang style was made for Lopez. He would dissected him. Chang's aggressiveness would be his downfall against Lopez
I put alot of stock into your boxing knowledge but Grey, Chang was way past it when he faced Chiquita.. Are you really going to use that fight to gauge his ability? U got to be kidding..
You even admitted that you couldnt see much of Chang during his time and it's understandable, and it shows! Im not knocking on you btw.. But the way you are describing Chang makes it seem like you dont know too much about him cuz if you did, I doubt you could have used the chiquita fight as reference and you sure wouldnt call him a straight ahead puncher.. He was so much more than that..
Chang was far from a straight ahead volume puncher my man.. There was a certain method to his madness and there were many dimensions to his game..
As I said, he was like Duran and Pryor rolled into one...

I watched him against Augustin garcia as well. I also watched him against Chitalada. Lopez is going to beat him. Getting beat by Ricardo lopez and being a bum are a million miles apart.
When I watched, i tried to see him against taller guys. (I watched the gonzalez fight because i was huge Gonzalez fan.) Lopez will beat him. He'll get him out.
I dont know what kind of shit you laced on that blunt but calling chang B- level fighter is the most asinine shit ive ever heard!
People in the west dont pay attention to asian boxing so I understand but you couldnt be more wrong, VD..
A fighter whose arguably the best fighter ever of his division is a B- level fighter?
Dont get me wrong cuz as u can see on my sig and avi,, Finito lopez is one of my favorite fighters ever but to say that Chang wouldnt last more than 2 rds is plain stupid..
A knock on both these fighters is that their resumes are pretty shallow which isnt their fault but ....
Who exactly did Finito fight to make u believe that he would walk over Chang?
U just trippin
Lopez had a propensity to set guys up and hit them with shots. He would get them out quick. he is going to hit Chang with shots, so i think he'll get him. I'm not going to say anything bad about Chang. But his style is made to make lopez look good.
That was actually suppose to be a B+. And theres nothing wrong with being a B+ fighter. Not everybody can be an A+ fighter. Chang was a very good fighter. Fun to watch. Homie went out like a G in his last fight. He's very deserving of being in the HOF. I think he's still the only Korean boxer to ever make Ring's pound for pound list. He was a damn good fighter. But Lopez was just on another level than him. You can't watch Chang fight and than watch Lopez fight and think yeah Chang beats him. Come on now. Styles make fights. Chang style would be all wrong for him against Lopez. Chang deserves to be on top 100 fighters of all time list. Lopez deserves to be on top 20 fighters of all time list
Not to get all technical but Chang was an A+ level fighter at his best and I thought this was something everybody can agree on. You just mentioned all his achievements of being the first Korean fighter to make it to the Ring's P4P list, how he got inducted to the HOF not too long ago, and as I mentioned earlier, he's constantly being mentioned as the #1 JFW of all times so how can a fighter like that be considered as anything less than an A+ level fighter? shit dont add up..
You are right, it is all about styles and they both have what it takes to frustrate one another.. We can sit here and say Finito would break him down with his god given boxing ability but we can also argue that Chang's constant pressure would give him shitload of trouble.
It's like Pac and Marquez. ON paper, Marquez is so much superior technically and he should be able to win everytime but look what happens when they get in the ring.. Marquez gets taken to hell and back every single time..
And besides, Finito was the man at 105 but he wasn't proven at 108... 108 division belonged to Chang..
Look what Rosendo Alvarez did to Finito and Chang is leagues above him..
Like I said man, Finito is my Boxing idol and if I had to put my life on it, Id go with him but this bout is pretty evenly matched up..
Both champs at same time , why didn't Chang fight yuh ?
