Default Announcers should own up to their mistakes

I got nothing against Lampley, as I think he's the guy that bring the telecasts together for HBO. He may not be a good "blow-by-blow" commentator, but his talent is bringing out the best in the commentators around him. It's his job to start the proceedings... and it's his job to sum up the proceedings at the end of the night.

But during the Froch-Groves fight Lampley committed a mistake, then refused to own up to it, sounding stupid in the process. It was the 7th round, and Groves connected what was clearly a hard jab on Froch. Lampley promptly calls it a big left hook. Both Kellerman and Roy Jones immediately corrected him, saying it was really a jab. Whereupon Lampley, not to be shown up says... "It was a crooked enough jab to be called a hook." As if connecting a jab with your elbow bent makes it a hook.

Nothing major, but damn Jim... you screwed up a bit on that one.

I say we draw and quarter him over this. Unforgivable.

Don't point out any mistakes, they might bring back Mr Merchant. Now there was a guy who puffed up like a peacock when he made a mistake!

    In my opinion.

If baseball announcers can tell between a bunt and a homerun, I expect my boxing analysts to know the difference between a jab and a hook.

LOL, you on your damn periods or something princess?

You sound like my mrs, whining about the littlest thing when she's on hers, like I'll put my shirt in the washing basket and leave the sleeve hanging out, whoa she goes nuttier than a snicker shit.

    Let it go.

It's tough because these guys have big egos, especially a guy like Lampley who's been doing this so long, so it has to really sting your pride when someone corrects you in front of potentially millions of people. Especially when it's a pro fighter correcting you.
