NBC trying out the boxing-mma mix today. As much as I've tried, mma has never caught my interests. It's nothing against the fighters or the sport, just can't do it. Thoughts on boxing-mma split cards?

I like both, boxing more. I don't mind mixed shows but many people just like one sport so they are a hard sell.
I think that once you get the beer flowing, the ring card girls working, fighting is fighting. Unless you get one of those MMA bouts where they get tangled on the floor and lay there forever.
Think Showtime tried this years ago with PKA and Boxing cards. Would they have two separate rings-cages side by side? I've no problem with adding some mma but if it were to cut boxing coverage on card from norm then no thanks.
I would love to see it, Dana White could handle it, have it in Vegas where they can lower the octagon and then raise the squared circle.
I don't think I'd like the the two rings side-by-side if I was paying big bucks for ringside, but who knows?
I would definitely check it out a few times to give it a fair chance.
That's true, it has to be easier to move a cage than a ring? We've seen rings buckle and ping posts break with just heavyweights bouncing around. Can't imagine it being moved until ready to break down ? Well. they literally just changed the listings on NBCSP, from a Dargan fight to a Rick Glenn (mma?) match?
Boxing purists cringe at the thought of mixing shows.... and wanna puke at someone switching from boxing to mma.....

I do not enjoy watching men in tight spandex dry humping each other for three five minute rounds. So, no I don't like mixed cards. Could it possibly popularize boxing some? It may but only if the MMA being aired is UFC, and I don't think that's whats gonna happen.
I can not get into MMA or UFC, I respect the athletes and appreciate they would beat a boxer in a street fight as well as have the skills to combat a number of disciplines but do not enjoy the nature of the combat.

Not quite the same but I've seen Boxing/Muay Thai shows on Channel 7 and enjoyed them...
I'm a big fan of both sports but I just don't see the two of them mixing well, as unfortunately there are a lot of closed minded fans on each side of the fence.
Anyone who's in to MMA will remember that K-1 put on many mixed MMA/K-1 kickboxing cards that were a real treat for fans, but there was a lot more commonality between K-1 and MMA, and a lot more cross over (with K-1 guys fighting in MMA and vice versa).
worth a try
ive enjoyed some MMA fights ive watched but I wouldn't purposely watch one, this might help expose a fight fan like me to a fight sport![]()
