    It looks like Steward was teaching him the basics because Fenech was crude.

    Notice ES has gloves tapped to his hands in a way to resemble mitts.

    Did they even have mitts when this video was shot??

    Those are regular mitts he has taped on. They look to be pretty thick. Sometimes, with thick mitts (especially if they are new) you can't bend them, so you don't get a good grip and they get knocked off your hand. I always liked the Ringside ultra-light mitts because I could grip them with my hands and move them real easy.
    Interesting how he has Fenech jab, then lean to his left to throw the left hook and/or left uppercut. I would teach that you turn your right shoulder over your left leg- a little for the uppercut, more to hook the body- because your chin is behind your shoulder.
