Do you slip at the waist? at the leg? at the hip? do you bend forward? do you bend to the side or do you just twist? Or something else?

I was doing mitt work with a kid a couple of weeks ago - was taking him through a range of punches just to get him used to throwing while being observed and corrected at each instance (he's attitude on the bag was a bit dismissive, so I pulled him to one side after he'd done a few rounds).
At one point, I told him to slip in side my jab and twist up with a left uppercut - I was a little concerned that I would be explaining the mechanics of it all correctly to him but he was more upset/ shocked that I'd told him to slip inside a jab. ''Your supposed to slip outside the jab'', he scowled.
''It's no good the kid in front of you knowing exactly where your head's going to be, every time he throws a jab'' I replied.
Felt right saying that at the time but I do worry![]()

Say what you want but scrap did get the offer in 1984 to coach the UK Olympic boxing team. He helped me with my last fight before that I didn't know how to bend through movement had I not have known that technique,I would have never had got my opponent on the ropes then he taught me how to distance myself from my opponent while he was on the ropes this helped me win.
For my money the inside slip and left uppercut to the chin is the prettiest move in boxing. It is also a great move to train with because it is a timing counter that really involves the feet. If your moving the feet properly the slip itself is just a minimal movement of the upper body. Also, you can throw a right hand behind it, if your feet are right, and that is a nice check point. And after the right hand you can bob under and weave back out, if the feet are right.
You got any complaints about anyone particulars comments you know where to come with them go to a mod they will deal with it. Trolls we ignore.
Being rude gets you nowhere.
BTW he is trying to get people to think for themselves, try things out from a different perspective and study stuff look up the key words etc so you learn so you are more more balanced overall if you are handed all the answers on a plate you disregard too much.

Really are you Canadian Scrap or were living here? To bad for Canada that you didn't accept their offer. To be a coach on the Canadian team one has to have had successful fighters (team) or just be a damn good coach. A lot of coaches here in Canada spend their lives working for free just to get that opportunity. Some of the best champs of all time came from the Canadian Olympic boxing team one was Lenix Lewis who some consider the greatest heavy weight of all time.
To get the job as the coach for the Olympic team is damn near impossible? Canadians even have a heavyweight champ and a light heavyweight champ and who knows how many more champs are Canadian no this is a hard market to crack into.
So if you were living in the UK at the time of the offer you would've had to been successful coach in the UK.
To date Canada has been rebuilding our Olympic team Gyms can even apply for provincial monies.many of the border towns have Americans in their Gyms due to the fact that there are free gyms here for indigent people many of the top Gyms don't even charge membership fees to the best athletes.
Actually it was I who told Frank Maloney and Ambros Mendy all about Lennox, they had never heard of Him. Funny old game, they asked me where they could find a future english world champ. I told them Canada which confused them a bit.![]()
