Since I don't have a garage or a gym near me, I was considering putting punch bag in my room, just wanted to know would the weight of the bags damage the wall?

The bag shouldn't damage the wall. Assuming you meant to ask if it will damage the ceiling, the answer is "it depends". Generally, most houses are built well enough that a punching bag won't be a problem. I just rehung my bag because I was a little concerned. Here's what I did... I got into the attic, and put a 4x4 between two of the studs in the ceiling. I used 3 heavy duty nails on each side to nail it to the studs in the ceiling. Then, I attached my mounting bracket to the 4x4 with extra long lag bolts so that they hold tighter. Finally, I hooked a heavy duty spring to the mounting bracket to reduce vibration and stress on the beams in the ceiling. Now the weight of the bag is spread evenly over two ceiling studs instead of one, and the mounting bracket is attached to a 4x4 instead of a 2x4 and is attached with longer wood screws (lag bolts).
My ceiling still flexes and bends a little when I really unload on the bag, but I'm pretty sure it will be ok.
The only way it'll cause damage is if it hits the wall by swaying.Originally Posted by TRANSWARP
It will annoy everyone in the house through vibration and pounding.
You better off getting a metal frame to hang it off of so its seperate from the house.
I had to take mine down off from an outside verandah cause it shook the whole house.
