What's up with him. Has he fought since that shoulder injury. I lost track. I know he didn't meet expectations but I always found him an exciting fighter.

Gone Pecan that one. Honestly he looks worrisome bad now, being caught way to often and reverting to early patterns. This kid was rushed to the top shelf before he was even ripe
I thought he looked fine in his comeback fight, it was a conservative outing for him but he needed an easy go to get his confidence back. The fight with Lopez will be telling as to where his head and body are at this point.
I always liked Berto and would love to see him come back as a fixture in the WW division. He's fast, he's athletic and he usually provides a lot of action.

I fell for the hype and thought Berto was the next big thing but he was manufactured and I think he is finished at the top level.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
It was Upsher Chambers on a Broner undercard last out. Can't escape the irony there. Physically he looked fine..in shape. But Chambers was rail thin with little to no ko power on paper and still traded on even terms, rocked Berto badly a few times. Berto is a warrior but man his legs were terrible, locking up a few times.
Same here. The Ortiz fight was winnable, and he should NOT have lost like how he did against Soto-Karass. It was just shameful and now he is/was who we now know he was/is- just another name in the mix that can generate an extra bit of money, give a good performance, but if you are a semi-elite fighter you can beat him.
The only loss I can really give him on performance was the one vs. Guerrero, he was clearly out-classed and roughed up and was never in the fight.
But the Ortiz fight was there for him to win if he came with the extra, and the Soto-Karass fight just pushed him down to mid-card level for me.
ps: Broner better watch out he doesn't lose another good one too. We can accept the Maidana loss after the performance Maidana had against Mayweather two times out, but no way can Broner even have an SD or come close to losing let alone lose again and for us to want to spend money on him.

The Guerrero fight was imo a good one. Her to couldn't see and I think he made it so Guerrero couldn't either. They were toe to toe using uppercut, quite a fight. I remember in the post fight interview he was saying ghost didn't here him but he was standing with his eyes closed and his cheeks the size of a football.
Good question/thread.
I was also big on Berto- but felt his lack of height & reach would do him in. When I get time to watch a fight -usually I randomly select one- yesterday man I pulled Berto-Collazo LOL!
Man, Collazo came with it. Rocked him early & often. Then Berto's dad goes silly hollering: "Don't fight his fight"
I'm thinking, R-U-Kidding me? Berto getting roughed up because that's Collazo's style? Great friggin fight, Berto really had to gut that win out. 2 judges had it right 114-113 and one silly ass judge 116-111.
Berto also messed his shoulder up with Quintana, lucky for Andre that Quintana can't take punishment. Sad to say, but Berto is done at the top level. Maybe he will be the guy up & comers whip on -if he decides to continue. If so ,he will lose them all, but make them earn their victory.
